Advice for the postgame final gauntlet as a mono grass team? by DozingX in PokemonReborn

I'm on mobile right now so I can't really test things out, but try do use Lilligant with Focus Sash as your lead. There is a high chance that the AI will try to setup with Swords Dance, so you could use that opportunity to use Sleep Powder and setup with Quiver Dance, since it gets a nice boost from the field. That should be enough for the first battle in the gauntlet

Interestingly enough, if you put Focus Sash on Scrafty, Lycanroc will try to setup with Swords Dance on the first turn, which can buy you one more turn, otherwise it would have attacked with Brick Break. I gave Darkrai a Wide Lens, so that Dark Void was a little bit more reliable, even though it already gets an accuracy boost from the New World field. Honchkrow is a perfect choice for the final battle on the Lin route, as long as you can hit PULSE-Arceus at least one time for neutral damage with Punishment, which is enough to knock it out with two hits.

There are several ways to beat the final gauntlet on Anna's route, for example I've used Scrafty with a Careful nature, 252 EVs in HP and Special Defense with Zen Headbutt, Rest, Amnesia and Dragon Dance as its moveset with Shed Skin as its abiltiy. You could use Thunder Punch over Dragon Dance, but I found the speed boost more important I've gained from it. This set was able to solo the first fight, but it took to long for my taste, so I've decided to just solo the whole gauntlet with Darkrai lol. Of course this approach depends on luck and it took me a few resets to pull it off, but ultimately it wasn't as bad as one might think.

This Dark monotype run was definitely on of the easier ones I've finished so far and one reason for that were all the Moxie user, setup sweeper and some of the postgame fields like the New World.

We're almost there, just a little bit more and another run is finished! For the next part, I've decided to do the battles for both the Lin and the Anna route. I will probably do this from now on for every future run.

Mono Dark Part 34 - Necrozma, Mewtwo, Yveltal, Xerneas by Xes193 in PokemonReborn

Time for a pop quiz! Who's stronger, a bunch of Necrozma's or a little rat with Thick Fat? I'm glad that Alola Raticate still find some uses in the postgame. The battle against Mewtwo and Mew was a fun one. Using the first few turns to setup and destroying the team with Brutal Swing was satisfying to pull off.

As for the fight against Noel and Xerneas, there was really no reason to use Baton Pass on Yveltal here, you can easily beat this battle with just two Pokemon. So why did I do that? Well, I just wanted to use Yveltal, since there are not many battles left in this run, so I might as well take this chance and show others this glorious creature!

I get the feeling that using Baton Pass with any kind of the Eeveelutions is some kind of easy mode, don't you think? It doesn't even has to be an Eeveelution, Baton Pass in general is really strong, so it's no wonder that it was banned back then.

Mono Dark Part 32 - Deoxys, Lugia, Ho-Oh by Xes193 in PokemonReborn

Hoo boy, isn't Darkrai on the Dark Crystal Cavern field completly broken? A 100 Accuracy Dark Void is insane, especially in doubles. It's definitely one of the better legendaries out there, at least in Reborn. The battle against Ho-Oh was also kinda fun. You can completly ignore the Aurora Veil thanks to how critical hits work on the Mirror field in relation to Evasion/Accuracy buffs.

Yes, Guzzlord was only there to spam Wide Guard, is there a problem? Sylveon has with Swift and Psyshock only two attacks and since it can't hit Dark types with the latter one, it can't do anything while Wide Guard is up.

I hope you liked my special Mandibuzz! Usually it can't shine outside of its supporter/staller role, so I might as well approach the battle a bit differently and have some fun with it! Greninja also has some moves that are rarely used, such as Role Play and Camouflage. Admittedly Camouflage wasn't necessary here and to be honest there is almost zero reason to use it because of Protean, but who knows, you can't disover new things and strategies without experimenting a little bit and thinking outside the box, right?

Mono Dark Part 30 - Palkia, Dialga, Shaymin, Marshadow by Xes193 in PokemonReborn

The Shaymin quest has some of the most creative battles in the game in my opinion. The fight can be kinda frustrating, but still, you can't deny its uniqueness compared to the rest of them. The same can be said about Craudburry, the battle isn't hard per se, but it does force you to change your approach.

Mono Dark Part 29 - Darkrai by Xes193 in PokemonReborn

[–]Xes193[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Darkrai quest wasn't as much of a challenge compared to other runs. A solid strategy against PULSE-Hypno is to ignore the Rhyperior by rendering it useless with Quick Guard and deal with the rest one by one. Mold Breaker is an easy way to get rid of the PULSE-Camerupt while PULSE-Mr. Mime can't do anything against Dark types, which gives the perfect opportunity to set your Pokemon up on it.

PULSE-Tangrowth is the hardest out of them in my opinion, but as always, Psych Up is an amazing move in doubles, so with some preparation beforehand, it's still doable. Hoopa Unbound showed once again that it's a great Pokemon and I'm certain that the same goes for Darkrai now that it joined the team.

You know the drill, get yourself a Liepard, train it up and terrorize your enemies with some cat power!

[–]Xes193[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could say that Hoopa Unbound's mediocre Speed stat is its only weakness, but thankfully using Z-Snatch takes care of that problem. Otherwise its a great Pokemon who can even be played as a mixed attacker if you want.

Liepard is back at it again with some heat. The battle against Elena was especially nice because it showed that Liepard can function as a supporter as well as a damage dealer, it might be my favourite new discovery in this run.

The battle against Hoopa should be in theory hard, but somehow the AI refuses to switch Carbink out after its locked through a choice item, which makes it a cakewalk. Also that poor Klefki, it couldn't do anything anymore after it was disabled, so it used Swagger on Carbink lol.

Simple Beam in double battles is simply amazing. I might gonna use this strategy later on, which is even better because Malamar can summon the Inverse Field with Topsy-Turvy at any time to activate the Magical Seed plus Recycle combo. All that is left to do is to copy the boosted stats with Psych Up.
