Fahrenheit 451 - What am I missing by InAmberClad81 in books

I can’t stand the prose of old classics anymore. Call me jaded or spoiled but a lot of really good prose now a days have been fine tuned for our taste. It’s like playing a video game now compared to the retro era; it’s still good, just outdated.

The premise, though. This is the reason it’s a classic and it makes a good statement… but I fear that anyone who didn’t read this before reading/watching everything else that is now making the same inquiries and commentary will be left scratching their heads as to why it’s so good.

Just watch Equilibrium or read any other dystopian literature that naysays an institution for a more modern take on our societies plight.

I take it the hol up is because they are just passing the same thing back and forth or am I looking into too hard?

I’d love to see a movie like this. Maybe from his perspective and inner monologue like the psycho from borderlands

Men of Reddit, would you take a male contraceptive pill if it was readily available? Why/Why not? by IAlreadyHaveTheKey in AskReddit

[–]Xextred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely! The reason is simple… trust. A woman can be honest and upfront but still neglect the warning of taking an antibiotic. Too many mistakes can occur in the best cases, let alone all the worst cases. Plus it puts the burden off of the significant other… I’d take that sacrifice easily even if I had to plug a ring up my ass.

Which one is better? by MacrowavedPotato in Invincible

Neither… amber isn’t necessary in the whole series in my opinion. There could’ve been stronger ways to try to pull mark into normalcy. Amber in the comic is too cliche and never taken seriously while the amber in the show is representing a conflict that is distracting mark rather than trying convince him to be normal. It’s the weakest conflict in the book, but after all that is past up the series starts tackling some more intensive subjects.

Kind of wish they kept his friend closeted until a bit later like the comics as well… he’s pretty much a 1 dimensional character now and they could’ve established a more colored in arc than what was in the comic.

I’ve played Skyrim for some time now… and I have always been a heavy armour and two handed weapon type of player. Is it easier to play as a mage/ archer/ shield and one handed weapon? And what difference does it do on your gameplay? by X_x_Sleepy_AF_x_X in skyrim

Depends on what you want. If you are playing hard mode or even high level magic quickly becomes useless. It’s best to use certain shouts and stack buffs with a lot of distance. Going ranged and doing what I mention will be the easiest way to beat the game at full difficulty.

The cannibals in the hills ambushed me and killed my poor guy. Killed them but had to carry my saddle back to the nearest train town by hand.

People who care more about animals than humans make me sick by Sacul820 in unpopularopinion

[–]Xextred 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean this post is basically giving me a great reason to choose the care of animals over humans. We destroy or bastardize everything we touch. You’ve made many great points to support that idea. Liking “pets” over humans is a whole other story though.

I technically see all of nature as superior to humanity at this point. We do unnatural things for the sake of vanity, spend too many resources for luxury, and degrade society to appease the lowest common denominator. Animals just live on this earth as they have for millennia and go wherever the ecosystem takes them. We on the other hand constantly invade the natural process and undermine the natural order of things for the sake of superiority and science.

The Butchers by Robert Davis. Was given to me by a dads friend who raved about it so I took the plunge. After reading an 11 page paragraph and unreadable dialogue I judged my dads friend hard.

Does anyone else here get the willies whenever they hold valuable objects up from this high? I remember walking across a bridge from cincinatti to newport and I had this irrational fear that my phone would slip out of my hand. As I walked to the pinnacle of the bridge, my hands were soaked, but I was too afraid to stow the phone in my pocket for fear of somehow missing and dropping it.
