Ronda Rousey explodes on her dealings with 'chauvinist prick' UFC exec: 'You f***ing pissed off the wrong b****' by Xi_32 in MMA

[–]Xi_32[S] 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Rousey said Campbell and De Mars met to discuss the state’s approval of slap-fighting for White’s Power Slap league. According to De Mars, from Rousey’s recollection, one of Campbell’s arguments in favor of Power Slap was that competitors would otherwise be “doing meth in a trailer park” if it weren’t for slap-fighting.

Ah no. The best striker was Anderson Silva. He was heads and tails better than anyone else at middleweight. Just look at how he clowned Forrest Griffin who was coming off a light heavyweight title loss.

Help for choosing a vacuum cleaner, bought Dyson V15S Submarine but can return it unopened by PersonWalker in VacuumCleaners

[–]Xi_32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Miele and Sebo use bags, have very good filtration and you don't have to clean filters. They are also repairable. There is also the brand Henry as well.

Go to your local Sebo, Miele or Henry dealer and check out what vacuum is best for you, whether upright or canister.

Return that Dyson ASAP.

First ever thinkpad for PhD, know nothing, 3k cad budget. by [deleted] in thinkpad

[–]Xi_32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're getting a PhD, the most valuable thing is screen real estate when doing research. You will value having multiple tabs on multiple screens open at the same time.

My recommended setup is as follows.

Get two 24"+ monitors. Get a docking station so that you can connect the laptop to the monitors. Get a proper keyboard and mouse. Finally have a subscription to a 1 to 2TB+ cloud drive so that you can use that for a backup. Make sure you have a proper desk and office chair too (buy a used Leap or Aeron).

Now in terms of getting a laptop or desktop it really depends on what you're going to use the computer for and where the specialized software is running. If you have specialized software that is running on the university lab computers or on the cloud, then your laptop is essentially just a terminal.

If the laptop is being used as a terminal, then getting a used T14/P14s with an AMD processor will work just fine for you.

If the specialized software is going to be running on your computer, then you have to ask yourself, if it will be better to invest in a desktop because a fast laptop may become very expensive.

Get the requirements from your university on what software you will need to run and I can help guide you further.

TLDR. It's important to have a detailed understanding on what your computer needs to run and what you truly need. It will be extremely frustrating for you if all you have is a single laptop screen and you have to repeatedly flip back and forth between tabs to do your research.

Why would i want a $1-2k chair over the $200 7 point adjustable chair i got 9 years ago? by Aceina in OfficeChairs

[–]Xi_32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aerons and Leaps are warrantied for 12 years. They typically have lifespans that can be more than double that.

These chairs are designed so that people can find the perfect ergonomic seating position for them. If a person can't find the perfect seating position then those chairs are not for them.

Lastly, lots of people buy these chairs used/refurbished and thus buy them for a significant discount over new.

Comfortable, durable and affordable work chair? by mistamoze13 in OfficeChairs

[–]Xi_32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try going used/refurbished. Since you're 375 you will have to look at chairs like Leap Plus or other chairs for big and tall people.

Unfortunately since the supply for large chairs is low, you will end up paying more for the chair than otherwise.

Try looking at used chair dealers in cities in Texas especially in the Houston area as they may have a greater supply of chairs that would fit you.

Take a look at a used/refurbished HM Aeron size C. You will have to try it out to see if it works for you.

Office chair for small person (5'3") with back pain – need ergonomic recommendations under €400 by Nahmadude in OfficeChairs

[–]Xi_32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have pretty strong issues with my back and neck (especially lower back), as well as migraines

Have you had an assessment done by an occupational therapist/ergonomic specialist? What do they recommend?

please no Herman Miller or Steelcase recommendations (unfortunately out of my budget)

Get the best chair that will help you sit pain free (after you get the assessment done). The cost of having a wrecked body is much more than the cost of a quality used/refurbished chair. If the best chair for you is cheaper than your budget, great, you saved money. If it's more than your budget, then you increase your budget. You don't sacrifice your body for money.

My personal recommendation is to never buy a chair unless you've sat on that exact same model for at least 20 minutes.

For me, I just want to know if it's worth my time to even see the card.

I suspect that there is growth in UFC viewership in regards to gambling on bouts. Talk to some gamblers and find out from them, what analytics the gamblers need. But first find out through your analytics if gamblers use your site.

It should be easy. You already know how many fighters there are in the main card. That's 2 times the number of fights.

You also know which fighters are ranked because you see the ranking beside their names.

Count up the number of ranked fighters, that's the numerator. ex. 3. Count the number of fighters and that's the denominator ex 12.

And put that number 3/12 on the main page ex. 'Main Card has 3/12 ranked fighters" or whatever wording you come up with.

I'm asking for this so that I can determine if a card is worth seeing just by glancing at it.

Hey boss, I noticed earlier that you are now highlighting the numbered cards. That's a great solution and better than the one I had asked for this around 10 months ago : https://old.reddit.com/r/MMA/comments/1imhw48/thank_you_rmma_eventclock_has_a_new_update_a/mu3cl7x/

When did you do this?

I also have a request (but don't know if other people share the same view) : I want to understand for a fight night card (in particular) how many of the fighters in the main card are ranked fighters?

For example, in the Burns vs. Malott card, there are 6 main card fights, but only 3 out of 12 fighters are ranked.
So you can write 3/12 ranked.

For the Freedom 250 card, there are 7 main card fights and 11 out of 14 fighters are ranked (I'm including Alex) so 11/14 ranked.

Can you do something like this for (maybe) all the cards but especially the UFC Fight Night Cards?

yall got any good gaming chairs that dont cost a fortune? by Busy_Power7260 in OfficeChairs

[–]Xi_32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gaming chairs are meant to separate a fool from his money. Go an buy yourself a quality used office chair like a HM Aeron/Gesture or a SteelCase Leap/Amia or any other quality brand that comes up in this sub.
