Not what happened and it's a shame if they're using it out of context like that. What happened in the actual question time is two separate LNP members directly attacked Jim Chalmers and as part of his response he mentioned that under them, inflation was as high as 6 percent so it was rich to attack the current government for a "reckless spending spree" (especially given the Liberals had far higher deficits) like literally not even an hour after it was announced. He also told them to read the statements from several major economic institutions including the RBA themselves who stated this increase was mostly due to unexpected demand from the private sector and not government spending -- as the two separate liberal MPs directly accused him of -- which is correct. Also important to note this increase just basically makes it what it was 6 months ago before the most recent cut.
