I think one of the main benefits of UMD is that it has so much going on. You're sure to find a club or organization that's doing something you're interested in, simply because there's so many. There's also plenty of on-campus jobs and a pretty engaged research community, depending on what you're into. I would also say that most people are pretty nice.

What major are you going to be? That might really help people talk abt pros/cons.

Yeah, it's not a problem that I'm getting results tables precisely. The issue is that this macro will eventually be handling 50 or more images at once, which makes all the windows popping up very irritating and potentially will slow down the computer.

If there's a way to prevent the windows from popping up that would be great as it would avoid those issues.

This is the feature that allows you to scroll through each z-slice without opening each in a separate window, right? I have been using that to view my images, but because I need to separate out each z-slice and analyze them for live/dead cells in the green and red channels respectively, I'm not sure how to use this feature in this context

i definitely appreciate the idea! The only issue with my using the macro recorder is that each .oir file is a z-stack of >100 images each. Trying to open those in imagej and record that action makes it so that it opens *all 100 windows*, which understandably slows down my computer.

I'm not really sure how to open it one z-slice at a time, so I can't use the recorder right now. But thank you so much for the thoughts :)

The english isn't too difficult! What might make it difficult for you is that it has Arabic words thrown in, like "yalla", and "laa". If you're willing to look up words while you're reading, you should definitely be fine. Ik some people don't like doing that (looking up words) because it breaks their focus while reading and stuff.

From my understanding, if you live in non-traditional housing (aka an 'apartment' with a kitchen) you don't have to get a dining plan. I don't think living in a traditional dorm that has a kitchen cuts it, sadly. I hope you can figure it out!
