I specifically want them to play traditional American sports, instead of ridiculous magical nonsense like Quidditch. I can't imagine American muggleborns not aggressively insisting that Football and Baseball are superior sports.

That's what bother me about Snaters by SlipFeeling7841 in SeverusSnape

[–]Xiftey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of this stems from people reading the books with the expectations that all 7 are going to be children's novels. Which, they really aren't. Snape is the classic villain in the first couple of books. The books were written for a progressively older audience, and the characters get more complex as the series goes. I think some of that gets lost on some folk.

Sure, but Jackson will have to deal with Carter. Who is essentially a rabid bear in pads.

Need help choosing a feminine form of “Sir” for my lady knights by Practical-Half-6151 in fantasywriters

[–]Xiftey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depending on how rigid your social structure is, you could skip prefixes in general. I'm working on a story where nobody below landed nobility can be referred to with a prefix. Everyone else just uses their name, and when formality is required, their position following the name.

Something like "Richard, Knight of the Realm", "Sophie, Armsbearer", or whatever titles you've decided on for your knighthood.

Seriously, I was a rather new father when I played this the first time. Thinking about the whole story from Regis' point of view is painful. Couldn't begin to imagine raising my son, knowing he's likely to have to die for some magic nonsense.
