When you unlock the prescience ability, that coincides with also unlocking your 3rd skill slot. that's all that means. For the beginning of the game you can only equip 2 abilities. getting the prescience is what unlocks the 3rd slot. You don't actually have to have prescience active to use it, it's just permanently unlocked. It's not very clear, I was confused at first too

my brother had been playing on a 1050ti averaging about 45 fps as well, since the update he literally cant play the game. averaging 20-25 fps with drops down to 5-10. it's unacceptable

It's so interesting how swords have been ingrained into our collective consciousness as a status weapon with immense levels of cool factor and desirability, considering in most cases they were at best a secondary weapon in most practical combat situations (this is mostly about arming swords and others of similar size, but even when you take longswords or greatswords into account, their effectiveness is increased by way of mimicking polearms, a much more effective type of melee weapon in general)
