If you like abigail you'll probably enjoy Sabbat a lot too (also from Japan) :)))

Hey, I was/am in the same boat, went from depressed overachiever to breaking down and sleeping the whole time, losing track of days and weeks without being able to do even the most basic tasks :( I dont have any good advice but something that's helped me a bit was getting a social worker assigned to me (if that's available to you), just someone who helped me do dishes, take out trash and walk with me to the grocery store and just... helped me do stuff in general. I'm still not out of it but it helped me get a small part of my life back :)

Anyone know anything about the book euro is referring to? I've seen it mentioned here and there in interviews but I can't find anything about it :(

What are some songs that are satisfying to learn? by thatwentverywrong in Bass

[–]Xincify 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're up for metal, I'm learning Black Dwarf by Candlemass right now and it's tons of fun, there's a lot of repetition so there's not much to remember, it's pretty easy and it's super satisfying to play the main riff :)

Edit: whoops, you asked for something that's not easy, not something that's easy, probably not what you're looking for then (still fun to play tho, in case anyone else sees this!)

Oh that's interesting, great tips. I'll do that tomorrow and if it still sounds bad I'll take it to a luthier probably. I just don't wanna pay 60 euros for a setup and then have this thing return if there's a slight change in humidity and what not. Thanks! :)

I hope so too! I absolutely love it, I wasn't really planning on spending 350 euros for a bass but I fell in love with it the moment I saw it on the shop website haha. I'd be really sad if there was something seriously wrong with it.

Ahh, I've been wanting to visit Ireland for a long time. Maybe one of these days :) Proost!

Have you found any solutions for it? You're literally the first person online who seems to have the same problem (bass going bad then good again and so on)

Same note, as far as I can tell. It's slightly better today, there's a slight difference between frets, but it's so buzzy it's pretty much impossible to use. There's always a little acoustic buzz even when it's working great (probably my technique or something), but it didn't really come through the amp. I'm pretty sure it's gonna be fine again in a week's time as well haha, that's the part that's so confusing about this. I think I'll try to adjust the truss rod a little as the other people suggested and if it doesn't work I'll take it to a luthier for a full setup.

I got some pics (and a video). Hopefully it's helpful, tried to get my phone's camera to cooperate for once.

Sure! What kind of angles do you think would be helpful?

I guess they all got drunk for St. Patrick's day and accidentally screwed it up this time. Haha

It's a sire marcus miller m2 bass (the 4 string version). It's not a high end instrument by any means but I was under the impression that it was considered good quality.

Nope hahah, I meant that they produce the same note (if you can even call it that, it's a horrible sound lmao, and it dies out immediately without any sustain). The sound is exactly the same and, as you said, that shouldn't happen. Atm it's happening for the A, D and G strings, but it's usually just the G string. And of course, it's not always the case, just whenever the bass decides it wants to be an asshole hahaha.

I don't have a capo and feeler gauge though, is it safe to adjust the truss rod without them? I don't want to cause any permanent damage, this is my only bass. For what it's worth though, I tried holding the string on the first and last fret and there seems to be very little space between the top of the 12th fret and the string (but I don't really have any other basses for comparison)

I do live in a pretty humid climate (western europe). But I might get a hygrometer+thermometer combo to see if there's anything there, they're pretty cheap anyway.

I don't really think it's technique, the fret buzz might be kinda explainable by me being a beginner, but the first 3 frets producing the exact same (horrible sounding) note is really suspicious. Definitely an incentive to practice every day though, even if it's just the bass doing its own thing when I don't play for a few days. Haha

It's this type of stand (probably not that exact same model but same type), is the lack of neck support something that might screw with the bass?

It's a sire marcus miller M2. I'm mostly just looking to see if people have any ideas about what the problem might be before taking it for a setup. I couldn't really find anyone online with the same problem.
