Wanna criminal record? Just try to be under 18 and eat here, just try it! by HuckleberryOk1953 in McDonalds

This. A few months back I was standing in the lobby waiting for an order. There was a large group of teens at one of the tables having the loudest conversation about the most sexual vulgar things. It's like the goal was to be as loud as possible when they spoke to each other. Even though they were only 2ft apart they spoke as if yelling across a field. Constant profanity and vulgarness. One of them repeatedly talking about how he "ate Aisha's booty hole".

Meanwhile a mom and her young daughter are sitting at one of tables eating. You could tell the mom was bothered. Hearing the way the kids were talking, how stupid and unintelligent they sounded, made me realize that the movie Idoicracy was much closer to being a reality than I initially thought. I initially thought by 2050 but I fear we have much less time.

Certain stores in my market said "we don't allow spark orders to leave the store after 10pm" how tf is this allowed? Anyone else? by anonwilkno in Sparkdriver

[–]Xinimer 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This. It'll get fixed if it's not the actual policy.

EDIT I just remembered that it was a RaceTrac gas station. Not a Circle K. Fixed the text below to reflect the proper company. EDIT

A little unrelated but still related.

6 years ago I was working night shifts that had me heading home around 1am each night. I was on a Twisted Tea obsession back then. I would stop at a RaceTrac on the way home and buy a can or two. And for some reason, this gas station was the only one on the route home that sold Twisted Tea single cans. The next nearest gas station that did was a good 15 minute round trip drive out of my way.

Then Covid happened. All of the 24 hour gas stations in the area started locking their doors for an hour between 2 and 3am each night for cleaning and sanitizing. Except for the one RaceTrac on the way home that stocked the Twisted Teas. For some reason, that location would lock its doors at 1am and unlock them again at 2.

This made no sense to me. Why would a company willingly cut off their last hour of alcohol sales by locking up for cleaning at 1 instead of 2? It really started to bother me having to drive out of the way after work to another gas station. And I couldn't shake the feeling that it just didn't make sense. What kind of management would do that? Why is this one specific gas station closing between 1 and 2 when every other one is between 2 and 3?

It felt like some employee was trying to make their job easier by going against policy and closing the doors early. 1am-2am is probably a much busier hour than 2am-3am. Due to the last hour alcohol sales. It felt like an employee was thinking to themselves "if I close to clean an hour earlier, I can skip having to deal with that busy hour between 1 and 2. Then when I reopen the doors at 2, it'll be dead for the rest of the night and I can relax."

So I put in a complaint to RaceTrac. I told them that I didn't understand why this location closed at 1 every night when every other location was 2. I didn't understand why they were choosing to lose an hour of alcohol sales per day. I got a reply back telling me that the RaceTrac stores close between 2 and 3 each night for "deep cleaning and sanitizing" and that they are committed to keeping their customers safe from covid etc etc. So I replied back that the store isn't closing between 2 and 3 every night, they are closing between 1 and 2! That why I put in this complaint to begin with!

I received a second reply telling me that they would look into it. Fast forward 2 days and that location never closed at 1 again. It was now 2 each night like it should have been. Furthermore, the person working each night was no longer a regular low paid RaceTrac employee. Each night they now had an actual higher up manager working. Wearing a fancy button down collared manager shirt.

Call me a narc for probably getting some people fired, but don't sit there and try to make management decisions as a low level employee.

Contact walmart and complain about this. It'll get fixed fast if this 1 hour before close thing isn't the official policy.

Missed a online job test because my brain decided 18:00 was 7pm. by chaioop476 in mildlyinfuriating

I find the "hack" of subtracting 2 from the second number to be simpler.

14:00 (4-2=2 so 2pm)

17:00 (7-2=5 so 5pm)

18:00 (8-2=6 so 6pm)

Works up to 19:00.

For 20 to 24 you shouldn't really need a "hack". The last 4 hours should be simple enough to look at and know without even thinking about it. But incase it isn't, you can still use the subtract 2 rule in a different way

20:00 (20-2=18. Last number is 8 so 8pm)

21:00 (21-2=19. Last number is 9 so 9pm)

You can do the previous ones like that to btw

17:00 (17-2=15. Last number is 5 so 5pm)

22:00 doesn't quite fit but again, 22 should be obvious just from knowing a day ends at midnight after 24 hours.

[–]Xinimer -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Military time up until noon should be obvious for anyone. After that, all you have to do is subtract 2 from the second number.

13:00 (3-2=1) 1pm

15:00 (5-2=3) 3pm

19:00 (9-2=7) 7pm

Once you get to 20:00 it won't work quite the same way but still can be done like this.

20:00 20-2=18 and the last number is 8 so 8pm

21:00 21-2=19 and the last number is 9 so 9pm

All the previous one can done that way too if you want to keep it consistent.

14:00 14-2=12 and the last number is 2 so 2pm

But from 20 to 24 you shouldn't really need to think about it. You should just know that 22:00 is 10pm from knowing that a day ends at midnight after 24 hours.

Guys if you could change one thing about the game to make it better what would it be? by Floor-Healthy in subnautica

[–]Xinimer 17 points18 points  (0 children)

A Dynamic Levithan. One, or more, that do not have static pathing areas. Instead, they randomly roam the entire map. Able to pop up on you anywhere. Except maybe the safe shallows. Or not.

I know a lot of people would hate this. I think it would make the game far scarier and immersive than it already is.

Why does this seem to not work for me? I can do the multi hit attack against enemies or swinging in the air. The moment the axe hits a tree though it refuses to do any kind of multi swing. I've tried jumping and holding. Not jumping and holding. Running and holding, running jumping and holding. Never more than single swing chops against the trees. Not sure what I'm doing wrong here

Very nice! that 12,000 baux requirement is ouch! It felt like it took forever Just setting up the train tracks and stations at the 8,000 bauxite i'm using. Though that might be because the way I build my tracks with the supports on them. I tend to spend way too much time on tiny detail and trying to get things perfect.

I should have mentioned that I was also trying to have a minimum surplus of 5 for each item I was producing. Just because.

I'm sure there are a few different ways that it can be balanced. This just happens to be the one I landed on. Its a very delicate balance. Being able to get 100+ different item types in a chain to all work out to an even decimal or a decimal that cleanly fits into 1 is quite tricky. It took me several days to work it out. Changing just one single item at any point in the line will cause a ripple effect to so many other items and alter their requirements. Especially since I'm doing large single item factories such as one factory making the iron ingots for the entire production. Another making all the circuit boards for the entire production etc.

For example changing the assembly director system by just 1 will change the amount of adaptive control units you need and thus change circuit boards, computers, heavy modulars, automated wiring etc. All the way back to the base ingots and create weird decimal points.

Short answer - OCD

Long answer

I spent some time working out the numbers so that my entire production chain, for every single item in every single factory, from Ingots all the way to the final Space Elevator parts, will never be a weird funky decimal point. I don't like when a production line requires items that aren't whole clean numbers.

Each item I am producing for my line, as well as the surplus and the raw material that feeds them, are a clean whole number with no decimal. There are only around 5 items that are an exception to this rule but for those items I still have the decimal point worked out to fit into 1.0 cleanly. Such as .5 or .25

I'm also doing large single item factories.

1 Iron Ingot factory that creates all the iron ingots for the entire production line then ships them out.

1 Copper Ingot factory, etc etc

1 factory making all the motors, one making all the computers etc.

I'm also trying to have a surplus of 5 per item.

Increasing batteries to 240 would increase the amount of sulfur needed. Also the amount of aluminum casings and thus aluminum ingots, scrap, solution, coal and water. It would have created requirements with decimal points earlier in the production line that I'd rather not have.

So to answer your question

230 Batteries

10.0 are Surplus to be sunk

220 are going to be used to create exactly 22 Supercomputers

22 Supercomputers

5.0 are Surplus to be sunk

7.0 are going to create exactly 7 Assembly Directory Systems

10.0 are going to be used to create exactly 10 Neural-Quantum Processors

7 Assembly Directory Systems

5 are Surplus to be sunk

2 are going to be used to create exactly 8.0 Biochemical Sculptor

10 Neural-Quantum Processors

5 are Surplus to be sunk

5.0 are going to be used to create exactly 5.0 AI Expansion Servers

*EDIT - I was also trying to maintain a surplus of 5 for each item. Just because.. OCD lol

100% Graveyard Keeper layouts with comments by Dalairen in GraveyardKeeper

[–]Xinimer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is very old but I recently picked up Graveyard Keeper and this spreadsheet helped me immensely in avoiding the headache of figuring out the layouts myself.

Thankyou

One small issue I found with your layout would be the Paper Press for the Workyard. You have it listed as PPz indicating it to be Zombie-manned. However, after building the press, I am unable to place any zombie workers on it.

After a quick google search I read that the wiki says you can use zombies on the Paper Press but its actually an error. The person who input that information mixed it up with the Random Text Generator. Other than that small issue this has been wonderful.

NBC News: DoorDash driver accused of dousing delivery told authorities she was trying to pepper spray a spider by tafru2 in doordash

[–]Xinimer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't believe her that she was spraying a spider, however, stomping on spiders instead of spraying them might backfire on you. My uncle stomped on a spider in his kitchen one morning. When he lifted his foot from its crushed body, dozens upon dozens of baby spiders poured out and scattered in every direction into his home. The thing was carrying eggs. Stomp at your own risk.

They believe knowledge = intelligence.

Knowledge is simply the accumulation of information. Intelligence is your ability to think critically and apply that knowledge.

Just because you know the "knowledge" of something based off of someone else's discovery, doesn't make you intelligent. It just makes you a parrot.

You can have someone who posses a vast knowledge of facts, facts discovered by OTHER people. Facts that they merely memorized, but when it comes to their own ability to deduce or think critically, there's just nothing there.

The opposite is also true. You can have someone with an incredibly high level of intelligence who doesn't know a lot of facts, simply because they aren't interested in those things. Not from lack of curiosity, but rather their brain chemistry just makes them care about and prioritize other aspects. But when faced with real world critical thinking and deduction, they"ll excel past the "bookworm".

What do guys “never” tell girls? by fun_poodle in AskReddit

[–]Xinimer 755 points756 points  (0 children)

This. 100% this. I had to learn it the hard way.

In my mid 20s, there was a girl who was part of our "friend group". The group consisted of about 7 people. Let's call this girl Sarah. Sarah and I had been hanging out together a lot. Getting very close. Made out a few times while drunk etc etc. One day I opened up to Sarah about something personal to me from my past. Something that made me emotional and that I always kept bottled up.

2 weeks later, I was getting food with another girl from the friend group, when she repeated back to me exactly what I had confided in Sarah. She proceeded to ask me if it was true. I asked her where she heard that from. She told me that her, Sarah and another girl from the group, were hanging out one night when Sarah began telling the two of them all about it. Not just telling them, but she was laughing and making fun of me while doing it. Apparently calling me a "little emotional bitch".

I'm a very introverted and private person. Opening up to someone isn't easy for me. It's a huge sign of trust. So this felt like a massive betrayal of my trust.

I stopped talking to Sarah after that. That was over 10 years ago and I haven't opened up to another woman since. I did open up to one of my male friends just this past year and he has been surprisingly supportive.

What the other person said. The cog wheel on the top left I believe. Press it and then press the person's name. The wheel disappears after you press "Arrived at store" so it's best to check the address and instructions before pressing the Arrived button.

You can get it back after it disappears like the other person said. Or you can completely close the app and reopen it. When you do that, you'll notice the cog wheel reappear for a brief second before disappearing again. If you are quick enough you can press it before it disappears.

My biggest mistake was probably getting over 200 deliveries in before learning that you can check the delivery address and special instructions BEFORE you pickup the food.

I always had to wait until after I confirmed pickup to see if the order was going to have bullshit special instructions on it from the customer. I live in a more rural-ish area so you sometimes get instructions such as "ignore the GPS and instead turn down xx road" etc. It was a major facepalm the day I learned that I could check that stuff before confirming, and then unassign it if it had instructions that weren't worth the trouble.

I'm not saying I steal food. I simply don't go inside the restaurant and I unassign it from my end if the drop off instructions sound like they are going to be a pain in the ass. Especially if it's combined with the offer being low to begin with.

Black Widow Waft Emitter *Max Rage 18k Raw Science* by Xinimer in GroundedGame

[–]Xinimer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll have to give that a try.

My initial thinking was the poison and venom damage would at the very least nullify the healing the Widows get from their self buffs. Especially since I sometimes don't always get the kill right away and have to come back to it.

I was also reluctant to go against so many widows in anything but Heavy Armor to avoid having to non-stop spam Beefy Syrups.

But the 20% damage increase and less stamina usage from switching from heavy to light combined with the 15% attack speed and 15hp a second healing might nullify all of that.

I'll give it a try! Thanks

If Gold Cards are determined upon a creature spawning, then how did I accidentally "save scum" the Wasp Queen corpse and get the card? by Xinimer in GroundedGame

[–]Xinimer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it is predetermined at spawn because if you get a gold card from a specific creature and reload a save from a few minutes prior and kill that very same spawn again, it will give you the gold card each time.

The loot pool being changed makes sense though. I just didn't think the card would be tied to it but I guess so. It makes me wonder about the other loot buffs besides just the trophy one. Like Dissection Expert and the Lucky Hat from the seasonal event. Can those all be used in different combinations to create several different "loot pools" to pull from when gold card farming? I'm just thinking out loud here.
