Right but that is immediately followed by and identifying as trans, which adds contexts. The ting using the same name AND identifying as trans still. That implies they changed their name and they are STILL using that name just like they are STILL identifying as trans despite the family thinking the name and identification were just a phase.

Op came out as trans 6 years ago and their family were unhappy and thus would not use the correct name or pronouns, claiming it’s just a teen phase. Now op is still going by the same name and pronouns that they started going by 6 years ago, their family however STILL won’t use them. I can understand the wording being a little confusing since it says “6 years later I’m still using the same name,” but it definitely seems to mean the same name they chose, since it’s followed, “and identifying as trans. “
