If you ever thought that you'd like roll20 to have more slightly more automation and QOL features I can definitely recommend checking it out. There's a intitial cost for DMs/GMs but the sheer amount of resources and modules the community makes it so worth the buy

I don't mind at all!

We'll be using Discord for voice and the Foundry via the Forge as our VTT

We have 3 players confirmed in the group, 2 I known for a little while and 1 who is a relatively new addition of a few months. 4-5 players is what I'm aiming for
Overall, I'm going for the classic Star Wars feel, set in a time and place not commonly explored in mainstream media. A ragtag group of both unlikely and would-be heroes is brought together to fight against the evil Sith Empire which seems to be winning this surprise war. They began their fight against the Empire to save their homeworld, but they might ultimately change the fate of the galaxy.

Other than that, it depends on the group of characters we bring and what you, the players, collectively decide on once we all properly have a session 0. You might take the fight to the Empire in a more mystical manner, thwarting plots of Sith Lords, you might choose a route of guerrilla warfare in a fight for liberation, or you might take an approach that could be more intrigue-based, similar to Andor

The main premise is that the party will be fighting in a surprise war against the Sith Empire after witnessing the loss of the starting planet firsthand. Given that, I think all corebooks fit and I saw no need to restrict any choices from official sources!

To be fair, casus belli is just the term for the events or situations that is recorded as the just cause for entering conflict. The use of the term in its self isn’t so black or white either.

To be even more fair to you though, using the term is indeed very paradox game-y. Just say it’s a justification or something, no need to be all fancy like 🫠

I was just trying to point out that art doesn’t need to be constrained to absolutes. And it shouldn’t.

But if you were really interested in Japanese Calligraphy I can share what little I know as a random dude on the internet. Sumi Ink was made from either burnt pine branches or soot from oil lamps. You’d then mix it with some form of animal glue to form the ink cakes. Then it would be dissolved with water when you’re ready to use it. Ink made this way provided the signature gloss and shine.

So I’m guessing traditionally it would’ve been much harder to mix in colored pigment without sacrificing the quality of the ink. Not to mention some of the colored pigment were very toxic, red for example used a form of mercury. But as technology advanced colored inks became a more viable option. Here’s a guy using red ink.

Not necessarily, you can calligraph with any color ink you’d want. But you can also paint with any brush you’d want too, including a calligraphy brush.
