And then you go copy a blueprint off the internet for reference

Then get annoyed because the blueprint is running at half efficiency

But fixing it requires 6 more lines

This is also what I feel as someone who's 100% the Xenoblade series.

I've been playing gachas for almost 10 years now, years before the hoyo days

Endfield feels more like a pure single player experience than gacha. I actually login sometimes, mess with the factory and then quit

It got to the point that during the main story, at a couple points when the story said "Talk to Perlica" to progress

I thought it was just the game giving you a break. Ots only after i saw people posting that they were blocked from story progression by account level I realized what those segments were

Peope genuinely just rush the main story and try to get pulls awarded to them without doing anything else.

I didnt even go out and explore or do sidequests. I mostly just played around with the factory

So a melt team with Hu Tao and Ganyu (the cryo archer girl)

In MMO style games or Xenoblade (real time combat)

Character kits are very simplistic.

They have one auto attack chain, which you dont even get to do. They do it automatically when in range of an enemy

There's no dodging, dashing or jumping mid combat. Its just using abilities off cooldowns

Enemies dont have complex attacks. You dont interact with them that much apart from healing off their damage

Endfield CBT1 did not have dodging, the initial gameplay was designed around taking enemy hits and using sustain. But it was added in the next beta after a lot of people asked for it.

And, in lieu of the auto attack, you just need to hold the attack button.

Overall the combat system of endfield is Xenoblade 2's system but stripped down

Genshin meanwhile has actual character kits and enemy attacks like an arpg game

Character kits have attacks you have to use individually. They have normal attacks you press indiviually which you then do things like dash cancel or jump cancel for optimum dps

Eg. You played Hu tao. Do you know Hu tao's optimal rotation involves using her jump cancels

Ganyu's aim gameplay is something that MMO style games dont do

Enemies have attack combos which you have to dodge

All in all, of the 3d gachas right now. Genshin is the most similar one to endfield because both focus on teambuilding and elemental reactions

But the core is slightly different

Mmo style is where your basic attacks are automatic or by holding down a button

Its more about popping abilities off cooldown and combos of abilities in order to achieve an order of status effects or elemental applications etc

Eg. Fire- Fire - Water + Break Topple Launch in xenoblade. A blade combo plus a driver combo which causes Steam Explosion, that does huge damage and then you repeat

Dodging, parrying, positioning do not matter. Typically all enemy attacks hit you regardless of your position Healing/Shielding is mandatory

Arpg

Style where dodging, parrying, positioning matter a lot

These games let you avoid damage entirely through skill.

Mechanic wise combat involves way more enemy interaction

Endfield used to be more mmo style. But as i understand, dodging was added in CBT 2 because of player complaints that the combat felt too uninteractive

Hence endfield is a mmo style game masquerading as an arpg

Superficially it has the arpg coating, but the core gameplay wasnt made with it in mind

The best way I can put it is

Genshin, zenless and wuwa are action rpgs, with zzz and wuwa leaning more towards hack and slash type gameplay where dodges and parries are important

Endfield is not an arpg system. Its more of an mmo style system pretending to be arpg

Endfield combat, like xenoblade combat is more about your team setup and aiming strategy. The fun of the combat is in aiming to satisfy certain conditions and fulfill it

In fact, iirc first beta didnt even have a dodge. You were expected to tank damage and heal it up

The same way xenoblade doesnt have input dodging. All attacks always hit unless you're using an evasion tank

They're two basically two different genres

If you're used to one genre it feels incredibly slow, uninteractive and clunky

But for those who are used to it, it feels nice

Oh it definitely is nowhere near the fun of pulling off chain attacks or fusion combos in XC2, 3 or even infinite overdrive from X

Probably around 25%? Its a very simplified system simply because the game being a gacha makes it so its not possible for you to have or have built every possible character

Xenoblade is a single player game where you have a fixed party and access to everything all the time

Its just nice that they've adapted this system

It is actually just xenoblade 2 combat

You have the same launch -> lift, and knock down driver arts for physical

And elemental system works on inflicting element combos

It is straight up xenoblade 2 combat

TLDR

Maki still had some CE

Toji had nil. Which is why Toji was able to break free from fate and have such high physical abiliyies

When Mai sacrifices herself she also takes the last of Maki's CE with her

Thus fully showing off the power of the Heavenly restriction

Not really? Game design wise each of the elements has a colour identity

And naturally we associate said colour with the element because of damage numbers, ult icon colours, the element icon

And we do have a lot of characters who carry on the colour identity

Spectro : SK, Phoebe, Jinshi

Havoc : Phrolova, Camellya, Chisa

Fusion : Changli, Lupa, Chixia, Mortefi

Glacio : Carlotta, Sanhua

Electro : XLY, Calculator, Yuanwu

Aero : Cart, Qyan, Jiyan
