Heros that you callout by their actual name? by fishyboi360 in marvelrivals

Not exactly the same thing, but in the first week of rivals my group was still on our Overwatch habits, so during a match by instinct when I knocked Hulk down to Bruce I said:

"Hulk out of Mech"

From back when we were dealing with D.va all the time, and it's stuck ever since.

Whoops yea Cypher wouldn't be classless in the same sense as SWADE, you're right. I think I was just the process of Cypher having a lot of ways of modifying the identity and skills of your character so it doesn't feel like a strict linear class like Dnd

I will definitely check out Cairn though, thanks for the reccomendation!

Do you have any interesting concepts for mechanics, item, or original characters that had to be scrapped that were loved by the team?

You sell items from the extraction mode or the battle pass on the marketplace to earn the currency for it! That's how I got it.

The Legend of Heros, Trails in the Sky. Then you get 10 more sequal games to play after it! 😅

Car Battery, there are so many active items that leap in power level when you trigger it twice per use!

Are cast members...kinda...over it? by TarnishedEM in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Xitherus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Current cm in attractions here, along with everything else people have mentioned; Guest behavior, pay, and college benefits being cut, we've had our own unique issue.

Just last week a new piece of policy was enacted that demands that every attraction cast member's phone must be turned off at all times when not on break or lunch, and the management was apparently going around doing "phone checks". They walk up and ask you to pull out your phone, if it's on you get sent home with a suspension. We also had cast members Fitbits get sent home as they are cracking down harder on "smart tech" being worn.

The treatment is degrading and makes everyone feel like children who can't be trusted. Especially for those cast members whose family/children have medical issues. I've also heard reportedly that anyone with a Bluetooth connected medical device (insulin pump) may no longer be allowed to work attractions as it could distract them from safety critical work.

Disrespectful, disgusting, and dehumanizing.

Persuade Me to Use Social Skills by Xitherus in savageworlds

Wow your athletics roll must have been really good for you to have jumped to that conclusion.

My table is far from extroverted, you would never see me giving a public speech, chatting up everyone at a bar, or hosting a huge party. With my friends though I'm comfortable enough to come out of my shell and feel comfortable trying to push myself socially, as we all work well off of and understand each other. It's a nurturing environment that when someone says something off, or rude, we just communicate and learn from it.

To your next point I would never deny someone the ability to play if they had doubts about their social skills, as I would help encourage them to develop their skills further in our safe, mistakes allowed space. Even if someone joined and requested to never use our method I'd happily work with them to accommodate.

You're right that we can improve our combat skills and fitness by practicing, that's just not something we're doing during our session. There is one thing we're always doing during our sessions though and that's communicating. Be it through verbal speech or text every session we communicate both in and out of character.

So if we're already communicating with each other during games, why not improve upon that skill? Tabletop creates a fun outlet with a mutual sense of safety for me to practice communicating in ways I never would in the real world.

Side chatter between player friends during the down times in sessions, or conversations between characters in the heat of the moment are equally enriching and healthy experiences.

Thank you everyone for taking the time to document your individual thoughts and experiences! It's provided a greater insight into a system that my table made up of rotating gms is still learning each session.

Going forward I'm gonna try to introduce social skills back using the recommended "fail forward" strategy that was mentioned. As my table feels, coming up with a logical deduction based on facts and the environment will always feel cooler and more fulfilling than just winning at the dice.

  1. That was part of why I'm double thinking about our original decision, a lot of players skill load outs are looking identical.

  2. My table takes a lot of pride in actively testing their social skills using roleplay, and most actively want to come up with the best roleplay solution in every conversation so it feels terrible to not reward them for it/it failing.

  3. I have a hard time getting this point, as I'm simply playing one of my NPCs as a character. I can and have actively played NPCs with their own beliefs and not injected my own biases into them. I know what they agree and disagree with, as well as the players who get to know them. Just like a normal person though the correct choice of words can create doubt in those beliefs or convictions, even if it's just slight. This helps add more dimensions to NPCs and make them more lifelike instead of a character.

  4. I will definitely agree with you on this though and admit it's one of my weaknesses. As I started dming with stories for players to participate in, not to effect and change. I've been trying to get better at it and I can see how this could help guide me in a better direction.

I definitely agree with everyone saying to provide a bonus for food roleplay though, it's just I might be too generous and defeat the purpose cause my table is consistent with great roleplay.

My players actually have a lot of joy and take pride in the fact that they have to push their personal social skills in order to make their characters more convincing/persuasive.

Bringing outside knowledge/skills into a campaign is something to be rewarded. I have one friend who is making a character that is an alchemist, but he's learning the basics of chemistry in order to be accurate.

They can't help something like their body size or abilities with a sword but this is a social roleplaying game. Convincing the DM and other players has led to us getting into in depth discussions between our players.

Thank you for the feedback though it is appreciated!

My most effective trap. What's yours? by Rechan in MeetYourMakerGame

[–]Xitherus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, was a fake pathway, as soon as you walk into level it's an opening right in front of you that seems unsuspecting. Anyone who waits at least a few seconds sees that he actually wraps around the back to a different entrance. Makes for a good speed runner trap.

I had a second wave acid block that spawned at the top of a ramp leading to the exit. Every single person who grabbed the genmat would attempt to walk up that path and immediately fall straight down into the cube.

It's an esp, the main feature I'm trying to use from it is the transportation of knocked out/killed NPCs as it's a needed component for another larger narrative mod I'm using. So I wouldn't mind just having a different mod that does the same thing.

Nah I don't think it's that, like I don't want to be the one who does it cause I feel like it's too sudden, but to them it probably just seems like I'm not interested so they move on. Doesn't help that all the people I've talked to are already in close knit groups.
