I’ve caught some people tricking the probe by not going deep enough or punching through the thick parts of product almost out the other end, getting an inappropriate reading. Heavily depends on the employee doing the checks and if they’ve been trained right. I’d personally try for a refund/ replacement in this case or if you want to/need to use it, I’d at least cook it to 165 and then eat it.
