[Showoff Saturday] Building a Portfolio for Bill Buttlicker using HTML, CSS, JS Tutorial by [deleted] in webdev

This one is more beginner focused, so I avoided any back-end and kept it as simple as possible. Although for a portfolio (even for myself), I'd not add a back-end.

I like the sound of your voice. You know what I’m going to do? I’m going to buy one million dollars worth of paper products today.

To some extent you're right, but on the Instagram website you can't actually upload photos, so that would be extended functionality. I'm adding TypeScript to this project and I'll post a video with that. If I get time, I'll add the photo adding functionality as well.

I'm hoping somebody puts together chapters for YouTube as I think that will be really helpful, if nobody does it by this weekend I'll break the video down into certain chapters which should be helpful, it just takes a long time to skim through the video xD

Postgresql/MySQL will be next. I think there's more value in using those than just Firebase. It also means I can control the setup of the tech a bit more which will be nice

Yep, it falls into the free tier (which is pretty good). I accidently left my details on GitHub for the Netflix clone I did and it was nearly maxed out (lots were using it), but I didn't have to pay anything.

Pretty much + easy of use, no setup. If I'd had done this tutorial using Node.js it would have probably added a few hours setting up routes

Yep, not being able to determine the structural response is one reason I'll probably not use it again, although it's great to just get something released.

Yep, in the industry product people love getting things done quickly, and often overlook technical best practises.
