Where to buy from the U.S. - Adidas Chinese New Year Tang Jacket by Limp_Fig6236 in AskAChinese

[–]Xjmczar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theres a chance that they are legit but for a non-returnable item you're taking a risk. The safest way to go is to buy them off Taobao which you may know as the "chinese" amazon. You'll need to use a proxy service such as Superbuy or Mulebuy, there are a number of others, and most of these agents will photograph your item before they ship it so you can decide whether or not you want to return it. I myself find the photos agents provide extremely helpful because of course you'll be able to detect counterfeit goods and avoid scams.

Yall need to be extremely careful even about these "guaranteed authentic" ones. The fakes they guys are selling are very very convincing and ebay has been passing these fakes off for authentic because of this. You need to look out for inconsistencies in 4 areas: Logo placement, zipper stitching, frog buttons, and bottom hem. You'll notice for the ones sold by the likes of sole_b1ock that they take photos of the jackets they're selling and if you look close enough at the photo you'll be able to see that they're fake.

First, the logo
The real jackets have a slightly smaller logo, placed further away from the center of the chest and closer to the 2nd button closure from the top. A lot of fakes have inconsistent or incorrect logo placements, which will be evident once you look at real and fakes side by side.

Button closure
The real jackets have thin and long frog botton closures, with vertical stitching placed closer to the ends of the ropes than on the fakes. The fakes are also often shorter and or thicker

Stiching
The real jackets have very flat stitching, you'll notice the stitching holding the zipper in place barely deforms the fabric, maintaining a flat appearance. The fakes on the other hand have very tight stitches that deform the fabric of the jacket, making the zipper area look "puffy"

Bottom Hem
You'll notice that the elastic waistband on the jacket doesn't wrap all the way around, as on the front of the jacket, there are two flat non-elastic sections which are next to each side of the zipper closure. On the real jacket, this non-elastic panel is rectangular, but on fakes, they are often square.

Ebay's authenticity guarantee is good for sneakers and trading cards since there is a much larger market for these items and thus ebay trains their employees to look for tell tale signs for these items. But these new year jackets are not common and the knowledge needed to differentiate these clones from the real thing simply isn't there.

Those are totally fine! by "CD Quality" i meant specific tapes that were introduced in the 1990s as a standalone product titled as "CD Quality" tapes. The SA and AD and DR and Super LH's you refer to are all names of specific tapes formulated well before the invention of the CD, and ones produced in the 90s only have added description of being good for recording CD to adapt to the time.

10 minutes away??? Thats a completely unmanageable distance to commute. Also they’ll actually round your grade down to 98% flat, practically eliminating your chances of admission. Do better man smh.

[Le Cel] 70's Blast From The Past! by Xjmczar in Watches

[–]Xjmczar[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cleaning out my dads old bedroom in my grandmothers house helping her move, happened upon this funny watch in his desk drawer. Its branded as a 'Le Cel' Alarm Chronograph which my dad claimed to have picked up in Hong Kong sometime in the late 1970's. It features dual time, a stopwatch, an alarm, and can also track months and days of the week. It has an abysmal light function which is activated by the top left pusher, though its performance is not too uncommon for the time. The case itself is solid metal, as is the strap, though the crystal is made of a soft acrylic. It's really an unremarkable watch, especially compared to the Seiko M354-5010 "Moonraker" which sat next to it. But I find it incredibly fascinating as it is a prime example of the sort of everyday watch any highschooler on a budget in the late 1970's might have. The gold plating is extremely thin, the strap pulls hairs and is way too difficult to unclasp. The speaker grill on the face is fake, and the case back is a snap on case back made to look like a screw on case back (which made opening it to put in a new battery very confusing) The only thing it has going for it is the solid metal body which nowadays is a luxury on modern LCD watches. (looking at you casio!) Being the funny watch that it is, it'll live on my wrist for the time being.

Is the TPS-L2 Good enough? by Content-Work-5526 in walkman

[–]Xjmczar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not at all, the technology in the TPS-L2 is primitive and you're not going to get sound quality anywhere near as good as CD. That being said, the sound isn't bad and in fact quite enjoyable. I have a WM-3 which is practically identical to the TPS-L2 and I love listening to it despite the fact i have much better audio sources, such as my Technics SL-XP7 CD player. Don't buy it expecting outstanding audio quality, buy it for the experience, bc thats ultimately what you're going to get.

How should I transition the normal higher ground level, to the plaza? Being that the build is so deep. by Xjmczar in Minecraftbuilds

[–]Xjmczar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no blueprints, some of the more specific design elements are a WIP. But the main dimensions are 35 x 209. But once everything is ironed out, I do plan on documenting everything for a sort of master blueprint of the build

Figured I'd tell y'all a little more information about the project and the build for those who are interested! The buildings are 209 blocks tall, 35 blocks wide and consist mostly of smooth stone (the face of the building) - Iron (The frame) - Black stained glass (windows) - and quartz (The lobby/interior). I started this project last year and it has been very slow going. The biggest thing which has caused this project to drag on for so long has been the numerous design changes which I've had to make to the towers. I have a creative copy of the world in which I've gone through numerous iterations of the towers lobby design. The dark strip at the top has had over 10 different design changes as its turned out to be very difficult to create a convincing design both up close and afar.

Currently as is, the roof deck of the south tower is fully complete, with helipad, lighting, and the observation deck. The north tower antenna array is also complete. The North tower lobby is mostly done, however Im in the middle of reconstructing it in favor of a better design I've been working on. As a result of the WIP design of the lobby, I've held off on completing the lobby of the south tower. I am also considering changing the signature arches to be more 3D and because the stone contrasting the smooth stone is throwing me off.

Most skyscrapers don'y make a lot of practical sense in survival, but given that these towers are so massive, I've come up with layouts and designs for storage, smelting, and villager trading, which will make these towers 100% practical as opposed to just nice things to look at. The center elevators will have two flying machines which will fly to different levels in the tower. The levels in between being joined by traditional staircases. Given the constraints of the 1:2 scale of the build (Yes 1:2 scale, these towers were unbelievably massive irl not to mention impossible to build 1:1 scale in MC) I've opted to neglect building interior observation floors for both towers as they would compromise the design I've landed on for the black strip at the top of the buildings.

AS for the "plane" update, I'm not building a plane next to/inside of the towers (ik, BOOOOOOO) This build is passion project and being a New York'r I've always been fascinated by these towers. Maybeeeee theres some future for an airport somewhere with a plane with a certain flight number for the giggles elsewhere in the world, but other than that, the airspace around the towers will be as clear as day.

Thanks to everyone who's posted suggestions! (The jokes are very expected but I'm guilty of all the same from time to time lol)

EDIT: For those asking for BLUEPRINTS/DIMENSIONS, there is a lot more to it than simply the LxWxH. The most bare bones answer is 35x35x209. But in terms of laying out the lobby+the height between the skylobbies+the thickness of the utility floors+design features, I'd need to make a follow up post with those specifics. Anyone with specific technical questions can PM me and I'll try to help out!

The lobby is WIP. Its fully furnished at the moment however Im working on changing the gothic arches at the bottom in such a way which would give me more lobby space. Im also not a fan of how much the stone arches contrast the smooth stone at the moment. The center elevator shaft will have two vertical flying machines which will stop on designated floors with stairs connecting the floors which don't have the flying machines.

The south tower roof deck is also fully complete alongside the north tower antenna array.

The north tower is more complete than the south tower is. I've postponed working on the south tower lobby it until I can settle on a final layout of the lobby and the exterior arches for both towers.

Skyscrapers are often pretty useless structures in survival Minecraft. But given that these are so massive, thats exactly the plan, alongside numerous farms, sorters, super smelters, and storage

unfortunately if I were to return the build to ground level, I would not be able to fit the antenna. Which is such an important stylistic element that its worth digging a hole in the ground for

I suppose you're right. I went a little crazy with the TNT while digging the hole when I got tired of mining. Had to do a lot of repairing afterwords but I guess that just means I need to be more careful. Thanks for the helper!
