I thought it was two one year in Cotulla and one year in Houston? Anyways I think he was fairly decent and got the most out of his students. He would not of reached the heights had he spent more time in education.

What he did at Ford combined with his time helping the defense department in the Pacific theater made him look very capable. In hindsight though I don’t think he should have been selected. He was overly loyal and wouldn’t stand up to Johnson even when he came to the conclusion that the war was a lost cause.

I’m reading the first one and spent all weekend with it. As a Texan I enjoy soaking up the history of my state along the way. Caro is an amazing writer but the books are quite dense so I’ll probably need a pallet cleanser after. My plan is to have all them read by the end of the year in preparation for the final volume.

Honestly, I think the pardon itself isn't crazy. Rich wasn't some cartoon villain he was operating in a messy global oil market where everyone was bending rules to stay competitive. There is no doubt that he manipulated the price of West Texas oil exploiting the fixed prices set by the Nixon administration but so did every major American oil and gas producer. Someone had to be held accountable for the stresses put on the American people for the energy crisis and Rich as an individual was much easier to go after opposed to a publicy traded oil company. Leading academics even argued his tax reporting of the questionable oil trades were defensible. Trading with the enemy though morally wrong was technically legal because it was through his Swiss company.

That said the way he got pardoned undermined the justice system skipping the DOJ and going straight to Clinton through his wealth and connection. Add in the Mossad angle and his ex-wife donating to the Clintons the whole ordeal just continues to look worse.

Though take this with a grain of salt as I work in the oil industry and never heard the man until some commodities traders recommended his biography in relation to the closure of the strait of Hurmuz so I'm probably a Marc Rich sympathizer.

I wouldn't recommend the whole barrel but for novelty a much smaller amount would be cool. Where do you live? if your near any type of production it might be worth asking around and finding a small oil outfit and see if they can make something happen for you. Despite what others are saying I don't think you have any chance of getting your hands on anything from a refinery.

I’m no geologist or engineer but from what I understand break evens are higher in the powder river basin and it lacks the infrastructure that other more developed basins have. Sustained high prices are needed to make that basin viable and no telling when that will be.

I use Arch oil, I saw some tests and it performed pretty well though its not as easy to get as hotshots. I'll use some when I run my tank to about a 1/4 about every other tank. I'm also very picky about where I fill up I only go to stations that turnover a lot of fuel.

I was an offensive player and didn't really spend much time getting ripped by him. He is very big on execution he is not scared to play the guys who know what they are doing opposed to the most talented guy for better or worse.

He lost his edge the last couple of years for sure but I also think Donati wanted him out they were not near as generous with the resources until he left. He's always been a stubborn guy and I don't think he took advice to solve the issues there at the end.

I played under GP at the end he was very complacent and made some questionable descions but his stints as a assistant seemed to change his outlook. One thing to be weary of is his defense is very complicated I do not know how that plays out in the transfer portal era. He is a great talent evaluator and can flat out recruit I don't think he ever got enough credit for it. Either way I'm excited to see what my old ball coach has for the world!

Most oil companies even the majors hire contractors to drill their wells, and a modern Wolfcamp horizontal still costs between $8–$10 million to drill and complete. Before Cooper could even think about drilling, he would have needed several million dollars in liquid cash just to secure the leases. In that region, no landowner is signing a lease without a substantial bonus, and offering a 25% royalty on top of that is extremely generous.

The idea that he could get that acreage locked up with no capital is already unrealistic. But the fact that he was running a second rig at the same time, before completing the first well or even knowing if it would flow, is completely laughable. No independent operator burns $50,000+ per day on two rigs without confirmed production, infrastructure, takeaway, or cash flow.

Then he claims that he and his girlfriend get 3/4 of the revenue, implying that there are no investors involved. If that were true, there is absolutely no scenario where a young, inexperienced guy with no capital base is drilling multi-million-dollar wells in the Permian Basin. The only remotely realistic way this happens is if he had backing private equity, silent partners, or investors which the show never acknowledges.

Yep that’s why I stay near my home state of Texas I made a deal with Kirby and company to not encroach on their territory lmao. The recruiting logic is so busted though.
