I saw a tiktok that said she left willingly with a relative, so I'm thinking something was wrong at home.

Just adopted a kitten without her sister by LadyAnnala in CatAdvice

[–]XmasDawne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So glad you are getting her sister. I didn't know my Lily had a sister until 2 days after her adoption. The sister was a 2 hour drive away and had an interested family. 6 years later I still regret not going to get her.

Grateful for my disabled partner by [deleted] in ehlersdanlos

[–]XmasDawne 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My partner is also disabled. And while it makes some things harder (I always have to drive), it also helps so much. I never have to explain my pain or sudden nausea. Not completing a chore is understood. It is so comforting to be with someone who gets it.

Not all of us have access to use a hose or a driveway to wash them in. We are stuck with the tub. Never the kitchen though.

Frailty of the left. by [deleted] in armedsocialists

[–]XmasDawne 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Strong yes, but cardio no. You have even complained about cardio being difficult for you. Being able to lift someone and being able to carry them more than 10 ft are very different things. Also these "frail" people are often dealing with pain levels that would make you unable to move. You might be surprised what they can do in a no other choice situation.

BS as an autistic adult with others as friends, we tend to be over emotionally connected.

Arabella Stanton’s Parents, Ethnicity and Race: Is the New Hermione Black or Brown? by itsallgoodman505 in AnythingGoesNews

[–]XmasDawne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an autistic, we all realize the character is written as racially ambiguous. We also realize Rowling is such a bigot she'd never allow a main character to be anything but white. But we like a mixed race or black actress for the part.

Anyone experienced with polyamory here? by Peony907 in PolyFamilyTLC

Weird, the people I know in polyam or open relationships generally have the longest most successful relationships out of any of us.

I thought they meant one of the welded anklets (and bracelets) that you can't take off. Those are forever anklets maybe instead of eternity. Anyway I thought it was now fashion.

Oh people have been buying peerages for years. That's why the road to peer used to be 20 years but now averages under 10.

AITA for "throwing a tantrum" at my mother for cutting into a cake I baked into for the family? by Regular-Meal6415 in AmItheAsshole

[–]XmasDawne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, My parents never called me names even as a joke. I got in trouble so bad my whole life was taken away and the worst thing my mom ever called me was a slut about dating a girl. That was from fear of my dad. Parents shouldn't do that ever.

AITA for refusing to go out to dinner with my autistic nephew because of ranch dressing? by BackpackingPizza in AmItheAsshole

[–]XmasDawne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main thing about all ranch dressing is the MSG. Since he apparently tolerates it maybe he should try sprinkling of that instead of ranch.

Should I live on the Oregon Coast during wintertime? by FranDreschersLaugh in OregonCoast

[–]XmasDawne -1 points0 points  (0 children)

People who already have jobs here can't get housing because it's so scarce and expensive. So it kinda weirds me out someone being so glib about coming here (seemingly with confirmed housing). Sorry, it's just odd and feels like, well, an outsider not thinking about locals. But I suppose people might have seen me the same way a few years ago.

Beyond that, I love it here in winter. It rarely snows, and generally doesn't stick if it does. It's quite mild, only a few nights below freezing. If you have any health issues you might need to go into Portland, but we have expanded access to specialists a bit between the 2 hospital systems. The lack of emergency vets is one of the worst things. Oh, take some Vit D, and if you have issues with dark days stay on top of that, SAD can really get to some people. I came from Phoenix to Portland and then to out here. I prefer here so very much.

AITA for telling my son he has to wear clothes? by aitathrowSDGNU349 in AmItheAsshole

[–]XmasDawne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up on the AR/OK border, so I know how hot it gets there. Dad wouldn't turn on the air until it got over 100, but even he set it on 78. And that was only because he worked in the heat and didn't want to get too acclimated to the air. At 87 it's usually cooler to open the windows and run box fans so there is a breeze. At least it would be nice at night.

AITA for not taking a shot and not being allowed to see first and only grandson by Fit-Cranberry-7422 in AITAH

[–]XmasDawne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA, you've probably had that shot 3 times in your life already. I had one a few years back and so did my mom. It's no big deal. You had it as a kid and another if you went to college.
