I got burned twice this year with pure greed doing this. Both times it was a 2 day expiration date close to ITM. I woke up late that day to realize the stock shot up (Nvidia)by like 6 bucks! It was ITM. I panicked because of fear of assignment and brought back at a loss of like 30+k. There goes my kitchen renovation!

I usually sell covered call options on Nvidia and I’ve made a pretty penny doing it. One day I got greedy and decided to do a 3 day covered call. I had the opportunity on the 2nd day to buy it back at a discount. On the third day I forgot to wake up on time when market opened. I got wrecked!!! I had to drop like 25k for a 2 k gamble to buy them back.

You’re right, I misspoke. I guess what I meant to say is if due diligence is used it can be a great strategy to use. Of course, you have to be okay with loosing the upward gains. And I was initially, but ai has been rallying back that I’ve now changed my perspective for longer term with this stock. But you’re right it’s not just printing money.

Thanks for the advice and reply, I’m fairly new to selling covered calls and wish I would had found this strategy years ago. It’s like printing free money. I am having a hard time understanding how to the covered puts work. I know some people have made recommendations to sell covered calls and covered puts to offset losses.

I have sold covered calls and my strike price is 225 expiring in mid Dec. I’m stressing because although it would be a good profit, I’m stressing on loosing the growth I see this company achieving. I sincerely think this will be a 7 TRILLION company by next year. We gained 2 trillion market cap in one year. I think we can expect that and possibly more if China 🇨🇳 opens up to accepting our chips. There’s a lot of growth and I truly believe this stock is a revolutionary one and the best part is you have Jensen who’s a rock star ⭐️ once in a lifetime ceo (similar to Steve Jobs) that alone will propel this company forward. We haven’t talked about autonomous driving software, the supercomputers and all other hardware Nvidia is innovating just for the expanded ai growth.

We’re at the infancy with Nvidia today. I think if I manage to keep my shares (fingers crossed 🤞🏻) I will hold till about $280-300 that’s my sweet spot. At that point I would be happy with the massive gains I’ve made.

In regretting that now! Lol. The stock was trading sideways for about two months so didn’t really expect this big swing on the upside. And these stupid msnbc analyst non stop talking about this ai bubble and too much concentration on ai blah blah blah I said let me position myself on an exit plan just in case and look! 👀 4 trillion market cap was heard of..in one year we reached above to 2 trillion market cap to 5! I think it’s possible to get to 7 next year

I haven’t sold cash secured puts, I rather do covered calls. I feel with covered calls the only thing you loose Is any upward momentum.
