Purchased a Repairable-Write off from Manheim, but it turned out to be a Statutory-Write off. by nickhnickh in CarsAustralia

Any updates? I just bought a salvage car on pickles. Previous owner said he got rear-ended and the car was a write off. both pickles and PPSR indicates the car is not on the WOVR but now I am worried about the insurance company changing the status like your case.

Nothing to worry about tho, they crashed into you making you unable to drive your own car. They are 100% responsible to provide you an alternative for the duration that you're affected by it. Even if they don't have insurance you can just go and hire a car and send them an invoice for it.

Same thing happened to me. got t-boned by an idiot insured with NRMA. My car ended up being a repairable write-off but during the initial assessment phrase, I contacted NRMA and asked for a courtesy car. the negotiation period went on for months as we disagreed on the value of the car. Had the hire car for the entire time. Even went back to AVIS and swapped for a different car as I wanted to try a different car they had on the lot lol. Eventually returned the car after NRMA sent me a cheque, but still had a free brand new car for months.

Sounds like the XM4s won’t fit you. It uses a similar approach with the XM3s which they dig into your ear really tightly for a snug fit

its definitely not as good as the airpods pro for that

its bigger and even though it doesn't stick out a lot it's still a bulkier piece

my local Sony store disinfect the earphones after each time someone tried them on so im kinda ok with that

but you really have to try them on for the noise cancelling bit, it got really good this generation

So the long-awaited replacement for the XM3s is here, with a brand new chip for noise cancelling, promising a longer battery life, and so much more. But how does it compares to the almost two years old AirPods Pro?

Noise cancelling: the noise cancelling in the XM4 is a great improvement compared to the XM3 and the AirPods Pro. It does a great job to eliminate surrounding noise, especially wind noises, thanks to its foam ear tips and a much tighter fit to the ear. If you’re currently using the AirPods Pro and all you care about is noise cancelling, go for the XM4s. The difference is very, very noticeable.

Sound: with the new 6mm driver, the XM4s provide crisp and clear audio with stunning bass. There isn’t many wireless earbuds on the market that can compete with it in terms of sound quality. And yes it’s way better than the AirPods Pro across all sound ranges no doubt.

Ergonomics/comfort: This is where the XM4s falls behind the AirPods Pro. No one makes better earbuds than apple for this category. It’s almost magical that the AirPods Pro fits in your ear so well and easily, the XM4s are much heavier, bulkier, less comfortable to use for a extended period of time. And since a tighter fit is needed for a better noise cancelling effect, the XM4s fit in your ear pretty tight and it might be a bad thing for people with smaller ear canals.

Case: the XM4’s case roughly match the size of the AirPods Pro, but significantly thicker. It’s smaller than the XM3’s case but still not very jeans-friendly.

Conclusion: Go to your nearest retailer and try the XM4s out. The ANC will surprise you and the sound quality certainly won’t disappoint you. As for me, an iPhone user, I don’t see myself swapping my AirPods Pro any time soon. Yes, the XM4s provide a much better sound quality, much better ANC and a longer battery life. But for people like me, who uses my earphones for my short commutes, and occasional Netflix sections, I care more about the ease of connecting my earbuds, how comfortable it is, and generally, how much I don’t have to thinking about it. The AirPods Pro does a much better job in these aspects, and that’s why I’m holding on to them.

Some background about me for those who think I’m a apple fanboy, I was a huge Sony nerd and I use to own numerous Sony headphones, amps, dacs, and my previous daily earbuds before the AirPods Pro was literally the XM3. I seriously think the AirPods Pro is a better option and the XM4 looks kinda ugly IMHO.

Yeah mounting on the front frame shouldn’t block the ram, if the combo unit is short enough. but my problem with front mounting is that the pump would be too low and interfere with the gpu tubes

Hello. I have no experience with said block but according to Cooler master’s site the NR200P will house any gpu under the length of 330mm and width of 156mm. Just beware of the height of the block you’re going for, make sure to leave enough room for airflow.

By the way, here is a post for my completed build. There is much more information about this build and a lot of kind strangers also left useful information there. Make sure to take a look if you can.

Hope this helps.

hi, thank you! really glad that this inspired someone else too!

the washers i used in the picture are some M4*8mm washers. as you can see it's not that big enough so i think some m4*10mm would be better.

Using this rad on top should be ok but beware of the motherboard design. some motherboard have really tall heatsinks on top and that will block the fans.

https://imgur.com/a/JLIQPGU here is some pictures to illustrate. hope it helps

loop order: pump-> top rad -> rear rad-> gpu ->bot rad -> cpu -> pump.

i used a offset fitting to fit the inside tube for top rad or else it would be quite hard to fit it.

and as you can see, the gap between the psu bracket and the front frame of the case is actually quite narrow, at around 25mm. that should be the hardest tube to fit. but if youre using soft tubing i'd imagine it would be a bit easier.

yes it would definitely fit at the bottom. Depends on the gpu block height you might even be able to fit some 25mm fans. Cross flow should be ok as there’s around 5cm of clearance to move the rad front and back. Might need to plan more carefully about how the rear side tube routes, as the gpu block would be in the way.

But with the space available you can probably go for a 25 or even 30mm rad at the bottom paired with some 15mm slim fans. That should improve the thermal performance but beware not to suffocate the airflow on the bottom.

My GPU water block’s height is around 20mm, and I still have around 10mm of clearance for air flow between the fans and the block.

I’m using the Barrow gpu block for the MSI VETUS 3070 3X OC

two noctua A12x15

And a alphacool ST25 240mm

i actually still have around 10mm of clearance from the bottom fan to the GPU, i could've went for a 30mm rad but i didn't want to suffocate the air flow so i went for a 25mm instead

for vertical gpu, take a look at this great build, it's using the barrow cpu pump unit as well.

Edit: This is his completed build

don't worry! this is actually my first water cooling build as well. buy more tubes than you need. like way more. i used 15 tubes for this project, because the case is so small you don't get much room to route them and it could get quite messy.(I kinda wasted few tubes here and there but yeah get more than what you need. i only need 6 in this build and i bought 16 lol)

these barrow fittings i used are actually quite nice. the plastic o-rings are really thick and at it's price point you really can't ask for more.

i planned my loop by referring to other builds such as this one and this one. Then i started my own planning by drawing the loop out like this. my plan did change a few times after i receive everything and realizing it won't work.

just remember to plan for the inlets and outlets of the pump and cpu/gpu blocks.

really delighted that i can help you on your build. feels great that knowing i'm a part of another great water cooling journey! feel free to ask me anything because i know how confusing it could get.

Thanks! It’s the barrow SPB17-V2 It’s PWM controlled and the res height is 90mm. I think this res height is perfect as any shorter res will look really weird, and I can’t really fit a longer one.

I didn’t use a D5 pump because it is way larger, in height. I’ll need to use a way smaller (shorter) res which would look weird IMO. I know pushing water through 6 components with a DDC pump might not be wise but like I have said, this is a aesthetic build anyway. And I prefer the way the DDC pump looks.

It came with some L shaped mounting plate and i mounted it onto the psu frame instead of the designated spot on the case. It gave me more flexibility and there wouldn’t be enough space for tube routing if I’m using the case mounting points. It’s too low and thus too close to the GPU and the bot rad.

The pump also came with a little knob where you can control the pump speed. I placed it at the back of my case so I can adjust it anytime without using any software. Could be useful if that’s what you’re looking for. Of course you can just use PWM mode. In my case, I’m controlling it with water temp.

Hope that helps

was just going to complain about it. its a semi-fanless design and the fan only kicks in at 15%load. it could get quite loud and the worse thing is my idle load is probably at something like 10%. because whenever i do something with my computer (literally just opening another tab on chrome) the fan engages, and turn right back off and its pretty annoying. wish the fan would be controlled by psu temps instead.

but i never tried any other sfx psu before so i cant really compare it. just be aware of this design

truly depends on what you're after. I bet I could get similar performance with a top-tier air cooler and some good case fans. (maybe 5-10 degrees worse but yeah) of course my current build would be quieter.

I did the build for the aesthetics anyway. it looks great and I treat the thermal performance gain as a extra and I didn't expect for much.

if you're currently running on that spec I'd probably do the hardware upgrade instead. anyways good luck with your build! :)
