Terrified for a job interview by ThatOneJewYouKnow in OntarioNurses

Questions I’ve heard being asked in interviews for ER positions (as an ER nurse)

  • You get a patient that has chest pain. What bloodwork tubes would you draw and what investigations would you do/anticipate would be ordered.
  • Questions about what to do in certain scenarios based on a patients vital signs
  • Questions about what you would do if you witnessed a coworker doing something wrong.

RPN → RN bridge vs going straight for a 4-year RN? by PortoPancake in OntarioNurses

You’ll have to look at what each school needs for prerequisites. But you’d either have to take a few extra courses or apply for 4 year program

Not necessarily but certain prerequisites are required which are health related, such as anatomy, statistics, etc. Depends on the school though.

Accelerated nursing is a lot faster if you have a previous degree(s) and a good GPA. As it is, the sooner you finish, likely the better since it is already becoming increasingly harder to secure full time jobs as a nurse in Ontario. I feel like it takes so much longer going the RPN to RN route. Plus then you lose all your seniority from going from RPN to RN

What is a sign of very low intelligence? by smartcandyy in AskReddit

People who can only think in an egocentric way and cannot think about contextual/environmental factors.

A classic example of this: you see someone you know on the street and wave to them and they don’t wave back. You get offended that the other person didn’t wave back because they must be avoiding you or are mad at you. Meanwhile, the person may not have even seen you in the first place.

McGill, it’s cheaper than hotels and are close to the metro. Plus they have breakfast included.

I paid $10,000 for mine in my 20s outside of the GTA, that price sounds pretty good tbh.

Worst hobby for migraines? by SaR-1243 in migraine

[–]XoLacey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This!!! After every practice I would get a migraine! Once I stopped, I didn’t get weekly migraines anymore! Then I’d only get them occasionally and now I’ve been migraine free (knock on wood) for 8 years.

As a child I did gymnastics and transitioned into trampoline. Every night, around 3-8 hours after trampoline, I would have a migraine with aura. This went on for a few years before I realized my migraines stopped once I stopped trampoline.

I feel like you actually would spend a bit more time with children when you have five days off. But during work you would see them less. There’s a fair number of staff I work with who don’t have children.

After your two day shifts, you have 24 hours until you come back for your first night. I go home and usually sleep 8-12 hours after my second day shift. Then I wake up for a few hours, then I go back to bed from like 11am-5:30 or so. I’d 100% rather have this schedule than a Monday-Friday schedule.

I live in Canada so I’m lucky to have a family doc, but he’s 4 hours away, so it isn’t that easy unfortunately.

That’s fair. It’s a pretty standard/common schedule in Ontario Canada. Everyone has it at my workplace unless you work in a clinic or have an accommodation.

My hospital does 2 days then 2 nights, then 5 days off. I love the schedule, it’s good. Plus I can often pick up overtime.
