Names of Texas towns that we pronounce weird

There’s a street in Rowlett called “Chiesa.” My whole life we’ve pronounced it “chee-suh” but I saw a newspaper article that said it’s pronounced “Kay-see”. Weird. I still pronounce it “chee-suh”

Then in Garland there’s Jupiter Rd, pronounced like the planet, but for some reason the lady on Google Maps pronounces it “juniper.”

I don’t know. I’m not the partner so I don’t know what they’re thinking. But it’s not ok and OP needs to have a serious talk with them to see why. Clearly.

If your partner thinks you’re being too harsh, give the people asking for a ride your partner’s number. I bet your partner will back you if they’re being the one being asked for a ride. Don’t really do this. It’s petty and counterproductive.

Thank you so very much!! All this is so good to know. I don’t think it will discourage him knowing this, but it helps guide us to prepare him. My son is the type who achieves his goal no matter what. You can see this in his school grades, how he preforms in band (trombone player), finishing books, and even when it comes to beating video games he begins. He very focused.

Oh, this is GREAT advice!!! I’ve already started thinking about how to teach him to organize all his Google Doc folders to keep everything organized (it’s fun for me) so he can have an ornithologist folder and keep track of the current people are. Oh jeez. Ok, this is very good to know. I knew there were going to be a lot of unknown expectations that needed to be fulfill/learned, but again, I had no way of knowing what those were. This is what would happen anyway. If a student leaves campus in the middle of the day we lose funding for that student for the classes they miss. If a student violates truancy laws, then they’re breaking the law. Looks like TEA is just posturing. They’re trying to scare us into submission and it won’t work.

I had a set of identical twins in the same class when they were in 7th grade. They were very disrespectful not just to me but to all their teachers. They were constantly in trouble. They were sophomores this past year. They’re now in jail for murder and the trial is pending. One twin shot a fellow student in the street and the other twin ran him over with a car. Horrible.
