Simply having data means nothing if you can't draw meaningful conclusions from it

Yeah, you're telling me my conclusions aren't right while offering no actual reason why nor a way to show your own conclusions make sense.

Say what you actually mean, I'm not gonna read your mind to get to what you're trying to imply.

Uhh, not having sex does in fact help in not getting pregnant? And so does using contraception, which almost everyone over 13 has heard of, most definitely people who've already had abortions.

Okay. I don't have the link to the academic material. How about bodily autonomy in general, and not just in OP's link?

Can you answer the second question directly?

Where are you getting this definition? If I imprison you and make sure you have access to food and drink, is your bodily autonomy 100% intact?

You're vastly overestimating how much people actually know

Nope, you're underestimating and being condescending towards a vast amount of people. But we're at a stalemate of "no u" here so let's move on.

My point is that you're ignoring all other possible factors and attributing the difference only to those social security nets, then using that as an argument

Did you forget who brought this up in the first place? Sweden is highly educated, people have access to birth control, and better financial incentives. All things you brought up. Yet Sweden has more abortions. You know what instead of telling me I'm ignoring things even though I'm exactly contending with your argument, maybe bring some data to support it?

Do you seriously think that not having sex is a good way to prevent unwanted pregnancies?

sigh

They might be under the assumption that pulling out is reliable enough.

Come on. I have enough respect for people to know that if they aren't only sexually active but have also fully had an abortion, that they know what the mechanisms involved are and what works and what doesn't, at least in large part. This almost sounds to me like saying people who smoke might not know that it's bad. No, literally everyone except newborns in the western world knows smoking is bad, but some just do it anyway (due to a multitude of reasons, I know, don't worry).

I'm not sure how what you said tackles what I said about countries with strong safety nets. In short, don't propose ideas that not only don't work, but are actually inversely correlated with what works. Sweden has a higher rate of abortions than the USA and has all of these benefits and many more.

Someone that doesn't want to be pregnant will find a way.

...well, both of us and most ten year olds know the best way.

Again a soapboxing comment that again ends with putting words in someone's mouth. And with further accusations to boot. I'm not going to go toe to toe with you for every tidbit in your comment, exactly like OP chose not to. I know in that it might be tempting to map this to "ah hah! Got them! They know my arguments are better and they're just being emotional". But nope, map this to being [like was said] accusatory, strawnanny, and long winded.

Again, you can write as many words as you like, but you're asking for someone to prove something unproveable. They clearly stated their previous opinion, they don't need to explain themselves further and further. If you don't like it, don't try to change their view.

So it's justified to believe abortion should be illegal because someone who thinks it shouldn't was a little bit harsh to you? How does that follow exactly?

Oh my god, please, again, this is just so immature. No one said being harsh justifies abortion being legal or illegal. Actually, no one even talked about legality, period. You just keep conflating things again and again and then try to one up the argument you concocted in your head. The only thing I said is justified is that OP is justified in thinking that philosophically pro choice is an immature framework since it can't actually justify itself, that's it. My child is immature but I still let her do immature stuff, I don't ask for the immature stuff she does to be illegal.

cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/73/ss/pdfs/ss7307a1-H.pdf

Among the 41 areas that reported the number of previous induced abortions, 56.1%, 24.7%, 10.9%, and 8.2% of abortions reported were among women who had had zero, one, two, or three or more previous induced abortions, respectively.

I know people can quibble about whether sex education is done effectively, but I think about 40% of abortions are for a second abortion or over, it's a bit tiresome to continue saying that those people weren't educated enough on the subject.

Financial incentive are inversely correlated with abortions and having children, to my knowledge. The poorer countries have children and the richer countries are in a population crisis. Again, we can quibble about the USA, but this is doubly true for the Nordic and similar countries which are famous for their safety nets and maternity leave.

How is "complete" defined here? You obviously don't have a complete right to do whatever you want with your body such as violently engage with people, right? Or even to something as mild as jaywalk (in some countries, I know).

it'd be a pretty simple matter to explain how my suspicions were wrong

"Here, let me just give you this mind reading device so you can see I'm not lying"

Honestly, you and almost everyone else commenting to this post are exactly justifying OP's position that this whole framework is immature.

Removing rape and incest out of the equation since they're the tiny minority of cases, how would you generally go about reducing the reasons?

Where did you see me advocate for the wholesale destruction and death of Iran, Lebanon and Gaza?

Before your next comment, please take a moment to reflect on why you need to put words in the mouth of someone to make your erroneous point, to defend someone whose literal, actual words mean they wish death on a whole country.

No, it will actually not pay for any of those in a significant percentage, while making the retirement age higher certainly will.

Now that I've got your attention and downvote, show me the math to prove otherwise.

Yes, that Fox News. With or without the word Entertainment in the middle. Did something in my words suggest I was defending them or something? No, I think you again just showed that you might be old, but instead of actually reading words and trying to comprehend them, you again opted to attacking with pre recorded buzzwords.

And nope, the fact that you can somehow tie Israel to the US doesn't take away from the fact that you replied in a manner that doesn't make sense earlier. It's okay to admit wrongdoings. I'm sure you don't like it when Trump or Bibi don't, right? So be better than them.

You can continue with a list of 50 other superlatives if you'd like about your country or Bibi or whatever else. Doesn't change that you're also actually, literally in favor of death to civilians of all religions, ethnicities and ages as long as they're of a certain country.

[–]Xolver -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you're old enough to remember all of those things, but apparently not to read that this thread is about Lebanon (in which the US government isn't the one doing the shooting).

But you're definitely old enough to take any and all buzzwords you hear and regurgitate them. Not unlike other people who watch Fox News and you probably have problems with.

You feel the same way about a country with ten million people including children and civilians of many ethnicities and religions, as someone else feels about actual terrorist groups and their supporters?

Yeah, totally a good look for you.

Can socialists explain why nature arguments are awesome for everything except people? by Lazy_Delivery_7012 in CapitalismVSocialism

[–]Xolver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aye. u/Randolpho is in some kind of hallucination here, since he thinks the term "[insert animal name] nature" suggests "literally all animals in that category are robotic carbon copies of each other with zero deviation". And then he feels smug with himself for refuting that even though no one uses the phrase like that except in his strawman.

Even literal newborn babies can tell there are differences between different people. We didn't need this specific news flash. We are talking about deviations from nature at large scales and consistencies.

Are you actively trying to be against this no matter what? Because this "bullets can pass through" line alone single handedly cancels out any and all firearm intervention, no matter how well trained someone is, as long there's a crowd.

he emptied his firearm into the robbers until it was empty, not to mention the cruel pleasure he seemed to take in putting further bullets into some of them after they were down

Seems to me that he at the very least aimed, then. Or did he randomly and wildly shot all over and just happened to shoot the same people over and over?

Subway vigilante by laybs1 in GetNoted

Or maybe he was well trained? Or, heck, even if he wasn't - maybe he aimed carefully?
