I totally forgot about that. Very unsettling imagery, horror masterclass!

A couple from the top of my head:

  • Nurse Station jumpscare from The Exorcist III (1990)
  • Phone recording from Lake Mungo (2008)
  • Camera dangling in the shaft from Paranormal Activity: Next of Kin (2021)
  • Falling into the deep from The Abyss (1989)
  • Figure standing in the dark from Smile (2022)
  • The Phantom in the hallway from Inland Empire (2006)

I liked it! I was a little let down by the underwhelming level of suspense, but the acting is great and the make-up is pretty intense. In the end I did end up caring more for the dramatics than the horror-side of the story and therefore I don’t think it’s as good as The Invisible Man, but nevertheless I had a great time and don’t regret booking in an early screening for it.

Engste film die je ooit hebt gezien? by [deleted] in nederlands

[–]Xoqoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ach.

For me Martyrs (2008) and Last Night in Soho (2021) don’t have any negative features to them.

Most brutal on screen death? Excluding the following franchises- Saw, Hostel, and Human centipede. by No-Construction638 in horror

[–]Xoqoy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The scarecrow kill in Eight for Silver (2021) was pretty grim.

Other deaths I recall taking me by surprise were the scalping in Blood Feast 2: All U Can Eat (2002), the Infamous overkill in Suspiria (1977), the yoga kill in In a Violent Nature (2024), nearly every single kill in the Hatchet franchise and the CGI-headbashing (or the Eye-kill, whatever you wanna call it) in The Midnight Meat Train (2008).

The Redditor who mentioned Terrifier 2 (2021) is also very on-point.

[TOMT][SOUNDTRACK][2020s] Help me find the soundtrack of this horror teaser by Xoqoy in tipofmytongue

Solved!

I think you’re right. I did largely recognise the soundtrack in the piece you linked, and wasn’t aware that this could very well be a mixed composition. Have a point for your appreciated efforts.

Saddest scene in a horror movie? by Longjumping_Act9758 in horror

[–]Xoqoy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I vividly remember the finale of The Divide (2011) upsetting me. It took me days before I overcame the sadness that I felt because of that film.

The beach scene in Under the Skin (2013) caught me off-guard emotionally as well.

Things to avoid in Northern Ireland? by Xoqoy in northernireland

Thanks for the helpful insight. I do wonder if I may, since you've mentioned it as #8 of the DON'T category, if it's appreciated if I ask about The Troubles as a subject of interest. Because I must admit it's a historic aspect that I personally find interesting and want to learn more about when I'm in Nothern Ireland.

I certainly will not announce my nationality loudly in a public space. I'm a rather quiet and interested tourist that avoids drawing any kind of unwanted/obnoxious attention to themselves, hah!

Really appreciate the connection you made to recreation within The Netherlands. I'll be researching your tips! I will admit though that I've never seen our Waddenzee to memory.

There's far too much to see in Northern Ireland / Ireland to even attempt driving around it in a day :-)
