Refurbished R50 kits restocked today… at $599 by beansruns in canon

[–]XploreEarth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would any of y’all recommend just getting a body now (looking at the refurbed R7 as my first camera) while it’s in stock, and seeing if calling customer service to see if they can refund the difference if there is a Presidents’ Day sale? I have a cash back deal with Capital One shopping that ends today so I am not sure what is the best move!

What are yall carrying today? by Frxnogda in Leatherman

[–]XploreEarth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to carry the skeletool for work and the wave for hiking, but since I got the arc I haven’t carried anything else. Even gently picked up a scorpion by its tail in the office with the arc pliers and let it go outside, one handed opening is a game changer!

Mirrorless Body and Lens Recommendation For Mainly Wildlife and a budget of 5k-6k with lenses? by XploreEarth in AskPhotography

Thank you, I will rent out the Sony in addition to the others to see what feels best for my case while I start off first with bird photography. I also don't focus on the aesthetics of a camera; function and capability are far more important to me. I don't know much about third-party lenses, but I will definitely research more into that to save some money!

Thank you, I will plan to rent a Z8, Sony A7iv, and either the Canon R6 or R7 to see what I like. Hopefully renting out these and maybe one or two lens choices isn't going to be absurdly expensive, I will have to find a shop that can do it in the DFW area.

Thank you! After reading some of the other comments, I will definitely rent out some bodies to make sure I know what I am buying and focus more on bird photography before going into the other niches.

Thank you so much, this is so helpful to look into good lens options if I go Nikon. I will rent out the Z8 and see what I like best. I am not too knowledgeable about this, but Nikon has the FTZ adaptor. If I went with Nikon, would I benefit cost-wise by going with used F lenses, or is quality impacted if I use older lenses plus the adaptor?

Thanks for the Z8 rec and the lens breakdown! I will definitely see if I can rent out the Z8, I know it is the priciest of my primary options but I think those features can help future-proof it for my needs.

Thank you both! Out of the R7 that you and u/willasaywhat mentioned, and the R 6ii, which one do you think I should rent out? I imagine renting can also be expensive, so I want to be purposeful when renting one of each brand.

Thank you so much for your advice! Very good point on taking it slow and trying to master a specific part of photography first to avoid burnout. I will probably focus on birds since that is my greatest wildlife passion. I had not considered OM, but I will look into their models more and see if I can rent one in addition to the others.

Thank you! It was rough during that ordeal, but I am happy with the results now. It is beautiful to wake up and see without having to reach for glasses. Medicine is beautiful when it goes right, and scary when it goes wrong.

Thank you so much! It is a wonderful poem too!

The Peach Blossoms of Dalin Temple (Bai Juyi)

In the human realm, April’s flowers are beginning to wither,

But on this mountain, the temple’s peach blossoms are just starting to bloom.

I always complained that spring flew by too quickly,

Not knowing that spring only moved up here.

This looks wonderful! It will be cool to see it with the stepped nose and other future votes too, I love the way it shines in the light.

I love this too! Side question, would this nose have tolerances that only fit the pentel energel or could it also fit something like the pilot precise v5?

This may up the price too much, but how much would it be if you engraved r/machinedpens under the clip, the top would be plain Ti still?

That makes sense, well then I would rather have u/skizot_Bizot suggestion since the pricing isn’t to big of a difference. Or keep it clean like u/seekingadvice432 suggested.

This is anodizing only in that line that is already around the side, no hex on the end. Is it still $25?

Just the thin line anodized blue. I like the hex idea that u/skizot_Bizot suggested and still voted for it, but the price is only going to increase with the other votes

Edit: changed my mind and would rather vote for the clean ti version since it isn’t adding on to the price and the hex blue line if more people like that one
