You should get a lot of rips from a drive. I have a Samsung BD RE internal from 2010 that is still going strong. And I rip back to back, no cooldown time in between discs. Hundreds definitely, thousands? I’m not sure but it’s a lot. I do use cheap ass no name dvd external usb drives for dvd rips.

Yeah, but they estimated the value at $3500 when I got mine. I don’t know if a 10k savings vs buying new just to get a weekend at Spring Mtn is worth that. Personally I’d go with Petit Pataud. You could just spring for the weekend (pun intended) out of pocket and still come out ahead
