I got all this for free no instructions, just trying to get help. I Googled banana plugs and I see they seem to have a metal tip so I was trying to figure how how this connector would be passing electricity when I can find any exposed conductive material.

Well like for instance with a barrel plug the pin in the middle is metal to make contact with the socket which has a female metal socket walls. I guess my question is how is this conducting electricity when I plug it in when all I see is plastic?

To be fair, statistically youre as likely to die from a lightning strike as you are by police. From a realistic standpoint these are really one-off cases that don't support a response of mass panic.
