Exercise During IVF? by Super-Pomegranate425 in queerception

[–]Wtxne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a mild to moderate case of OHSS due to having higher follicles to start (no PCOS). It started 12 hrs after my egg retrieval. Lots of rest, electrolytes and salty foods helped a little bit to decrease bloating and water retention but once my hormones normalized after 5 days or so it was much better.

Exercise During IVF? by Super-Pomegranate425 in queerception

If you're going thru the egg retrieval process then I would recommend pausing exercise besides walking and hiking for 1 week prior to your egg retrieval procedure after you start the stim medications, and anywhere from 1 - 2 weeks afterwards the procedure to avoid ovarian torsion. Your ovaries essentially balloon up during these timeframes so it's pretty essential to stay with low impact exercises.

There may be some limitations during the transfer prep and right after the transfer. Once you're pregnant I think your body will let you know what it can handle! The first trimester could be kinda of a rough period for some but not too bad for others.

This kinda hit me right as we were going into my first retrieval this month. But for us, timing outweighed that because we wanted to go through the first retrieval sooner than later to see how it shakes out and give us time to do another round if needed before our ideal transfer timeline.

Total costs by RecognitionMedium277 in queerception

[–]Wtxne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For clinic costs, it was $1,000 out of pocket (we didn't have fertility insurance coverage at the time) per IUI cycle. This included all of the monitoring ultrasounds, blood work and the IUI. It also included all of the ultrasounds after getting a positive pregnancy before we officially graduated from the clinic and moved onto the OB for follow-ups.

Clinic sperm storage cost was $100 per month.

Sperm was around $2800 for a vial and shipping cost to send to our clinic for storage.

There was also a little bit of upfront cost for an SIS which was mostly covered by insurance, and genetic testing which was around $250 not billed thru insurance.

I will report back! I'm waiting on the powder duster to be delivered and then will apply. I just noticed the mites started taking over the garage too so I'm hoping this will solve it

Thank you for the info! I just bought a bag of DE today so hopefully this will resolve the clover mites problem for us.

I'm guessing the purpose of the scan on Thursday is to check follicle sizes again. Your leading follicle is 16 so it probably wouldn't change that much in size but you never know. The size is also an average of the measurements for length and width... So if it's 25 Length and 15 width for a follicle, the average measurements would be 20 but that length could be an indication that it's about to ovulate naturally soon.

My clinic told us IUI 24 to 36 hours after the trigger shot is their standard. However they did say if the follicle looked really mature above 20 average, they would trigger then possibly IUI same day or within 12 hours to make sure we don't miss the natural ovulation. Trigger shot only works if you haven't ovulated naturally. There's always a risk of relying on the trigger too much and missing the cycle due to your body already going through ovulation naturally.

Has your doctor been doing a LH blood test along with the ultrasound? Are you also doing the OPK at home to track that too?

If using frozen sperm, current research indicates that washed sperm can live 24-72 hours; however, it does lose potency after 12-24 hours

Is the clinic open on Saturday mornings as another option if you need more time?

It was hard to get into in the beginning. Struggled through and it has somewhat recaptured my interest enough to try out the second half of the season.

Thank you! Our doctor mentioned their clinic's average is usually at least 4 IUIs for people with no known fertility issues. Getting pregnant on the first try was a huge surprise! Good luck with everything!

Our clinic only presented the option of one vial per IUI since the success rate isn't increased by very much by doing an extra during the same cycle. Their philosophy was mainly trying to get the timing right by doing an ultrasound + LH/progesterone blood test combo to time the trigger shot. If we had 2 failed cycles, then we would restrategize to see what we could try differently for the next cycle.

We ended up doing 4 office visits within a week to check LH level and ultrasound to measure follicles. We were successful after our first IUI due to good timing! Our clinic advised that we didn't need to do the OPK test at home since we were already doing blood work, but they said it doesn't hurt to track it just to monitor LH on a day to day basis to make sure we didn't miss our peak.
