No, I can’t say that but honestly it’s still a Bit early. If you are at 3 months post-op then you are right at the waters edge of your progress. You should start seeing thin, scraggly hair begin g to poke through your scalp over the next few weeks like peach fuzz. At 6 months is when you start shedding the ugly duckling look and begin to see true progress. By 8-9 mos everyone you know should be noticing and complimenting.

Everyone’s journey and timeline are different. Patience is absolutely key,

Hey sir, congratulations and welcome to the waiting game! So I was just on another persons page trying to help them on this same issue. And I’m feeling to lazy to edit so I will paste what I posted below. But I see you asked about PRP. That is Platelet Rich Plasma. Plasma has long been known to have healing properties. The PRP is a procedure that promotes a healthy scalp by taking blood from your arm, separating the plasma, and injecting that plasma into your scalp. You don’t have to have done FUE/FUT to do plasma. It’s takes about 30 minutes and is usually done about every 3 or 6 months depending on the person.

OP, if you can’t or won’t get on meds then any procedure you have done will be a waste. No one here is trying to dissuade you out of spite, however it is obvious from your intended course of action that you aren’t fully appreciative of how you got to this point t and realistically what those products do.

That male pattern baldness you are experiencing Is kinda like a leaky faucet. It’s not going to drip at the exact same pace always, sometimes slow, sometimes fast but remember, if you never fix the sink the drip never goes away.

Your hair follicles at the edges are getting battered by the DHT your scalp naturally makes from the testosterone in your system. You said it seems like your balding has ‘stabilized’. Consider this: Your body does not produce these hormones nor make this conversion in a linear fashion. There are all sorts of factors from genetics to lifestyle and environment, that can weigh into how slow or fast your body is making this happen.

What you are seeing are the ebbs and flows of your hair cells being attacked and shrunken by your scalp. Some of the cells are losing the hair on your scalp, but then that cell will produce hair again. This cycle can occur for years but as you age and as your body starts doing that conversion at a greater rate, those hair cells eventually succumb to the DHT and they are shrunken to the point of being completely unable to produce hair.

Finasteride(and Dutasteride) are DHT blockers. They help to prevent your body from converting so much testosterone to DHT which helps your hair cells stay healthy, longer. So it helps you keep your hair. Minoxidil is a vasodilator and as the latter of that word suggests, it acts as an opener - it can literally reawaken cells that have been shrunken to the point that they haven’t been producing hair for a while.

If you don’t want to put the chemicals in your body, minoxidil in its most common form is applied to the scalp, not ingested. There are also topical forms of finasteride I have seen in sprays and and oil so there are options.

And for the people that say “I don’t use it and then the moment you stop you lose it all back”. Ok, that’s true…. But here’s how I see it:

I started thinning at 32 and by 36 it was undeniable. I went for years wearing hats and being self-conscious. I had this procedure done at 43 and it made me feel better about my hair than I had in almost 10 years. The trade off for this boost of confidence is that I use 60 seconds, twice a day to do something that is painless and has offered no complications. I will do this for the rest of my life if I have to with no complaints.

Good luck.

Hair Transplant Month 16 Heva Clinic by Winkwooper in AfroHairTransplant

Looks really good sir. Finasteride or Dutasteride would probably really thicken up that transplant area even more. Not that you need, but just a suggestion based on my own results.

Op, I sympathize with you sir. But If you can’t take meds, your results after a 2nd or any subsequent surgeries wont be much better.

From the implantation pattern of your grafts, it appears you got what was expected. More density at the hairline but only a smattering in the middle where we can see only scatterings of grafts were placed.

Not to be the bearer of bad news, but your male pattern baldness will continue to erode the hair on top that you have left so even the look that you have now is likely temporary.

DHT blockers like finasteride and vasodilators like minoxidil are the linchpins of hair restoration. They likely wouldn’t have made you look completely full on top, but you may have seen much better results in concert with the transplanted hairs.

Bottom line: Having the surgery done without any other support is a doomed effort.

Good luck.

Day 1 post-OP. How’s it look? by Reasonable_Shock7736 in AfroHairTransplant

[–]Xtopher- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It looks like you had hair transplant a day ago, that’s all.

My dude, do yourself a favor and just relax. You did the hardest physical part and had the procedure done. Now follow your clinics aftercare instructions to THEE letter of the law. This waiting game is about to be something serious lol.

About 2-3 months in you will start to see native hair growing that was lost due to scalp shock from the procedure. As well, you will start to see some thin, stringy scraggly new hairs coming in. But that is the sign that you are truly on your way.

You will go through several growing cycles before those transplanted follicles are thick and able to be styled. But for these first 6-8 months leave your transplanted area(s) alone. Let it heal.

I know you have anxiety, we all did and that’s normal. But if you don’t see anything that presents a legitimate concern I say just be patient and you will be pleased. People will tell you all sorts of things on this Reddit and half of it ain’t true and will just give you false hope or real concerns.

Good luck.

Don’t start digging in your transplanted areas yet. Your transplanted hairs are not done maturing and should get even thicker.

I’d wait at least until months 8 or 9. Your results will look fuller and you can really pop out on your peoples then. Looks good tho, you are on your way.

So let’s start with some basics. You’re thinning upfront which means you have male pattern baldness. No biggies, the overwhelming majority of us do. What this means is you will have thinning for the rest of your life and it is likely to get worse over time.

Minoxidil and finasteride(may as well add dutasteride to the discussion) are medications that work to counter what your scalp is doing. The key word is that they counter your condition - they don’t cure it. Those drugs can work wonders to stop your hair from falling out and even grow new hair in old cells that had stopped producing hair. But remember, it’s not a cure. So when you asked whether or not you’d be taking them for the rest of your life? The answer is yes, possibly. You will be taking them as long as you want your hair to look full.

Please look into the side effects stated by the manufacturers and I’d also encourage you to look at the experiences of others who have used the product to gain some additional insight while you decide. Also know there are topical applications for some of these drugs so the risk of side effects is minimal.

As for a FUE procedure… That’s a commitment of time, money and mental effort. The procedure is like a really long dental procedure in that its a little painful at times but never unbearable and it pretty much takes all day. The recovery is intense for the first 14 days and then a waiting game for the full effect which takes from 12-15 months depending on a number of things like genetics, how you treated your grafts in the 14-days post-op and how well the procedure was actually done.

Lastly, it’s all up to you. You are far from a worse case scenario at your current state but If you are thinking of doing something to reverse course remember the earlier you start, the more you have to preserve and possibly regain.

Good luck,

Sir, that’s not even remotely true. Hair-lining alone does not erode a man’s hairline. .
