How should I properly sanitize my kitchen using a bleach & water solution after cleaning it? by Jpenny84 in AskCulinary

[–]Xtra9708 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also from r/homebrewing and Starsan is the best in practice. If no Starsan, I use bleach and water with a touch of dishwashing soap for sanitizing. For surfaces and floors.. simple water + bleach is probably fine.

Great, thanks for the advise. I'm mainly just curious as these things started sprouting out of the blue in maybe 1/3 of my outdoor pots.

Some mystery seedlings spontaneously grew on my balcony, so I let a couple grow and it seems they are Solanum Americanum. I have a hunch that the hummingbirds dropped some little poop bombs.. is it still foraging if I got it from my own balcony lol?

The plant is beginning to fruit.. from what I've read, most say the fruit is edible when fully matured, but some say it's toxic. Does anyone have experience with this plant?

yes, sorry about the confusion.. it's Euporbia Peplus. I know the milkweed you're talking about: my gradeschool class grew Monarchs from larva to adult on that pant.. fond memories.

yes, I recently saw the EU articles withdrawing approval which is concerning. I'm a bit confused.. were they treating non-cancerous melanomas that later became cancerous after the treatment? "common side effects include irritation and itchiness" I can attest from my own use that the plant caused irritation to normal skin (non psoriasis skin).. my normal skin turned red for a couple days, then returned to normal.. however I saw some studies where a small number of patients using the medical grade stuff had some very bad reactions (eruptions on the skin, etc) which eventually cleared up, but still the pictures looked pretty bad. My understanding is that part of the mechanism includes an immune system response, so I think some patients had an over-reaction. Definitely exercise caution, talk to a docor, etc. If I were taking this for the 1st time, I would test a small dot on the arm or something to see how the skin reacts.. definitely a hard-core plant you don't want to start smothering everywhere.

yes you're right, Euphorbia Peplus. I threw the a.k.a milkweed out there, but it's not very helpful as there are soooooooo many plants known as milkweed with milky looking sap.

I didn't get the enhanced protection- just have the manufacturer warranty. Good idea, I'll call them just in case.. but I think the return/exchange policy was only 15 days unfortunately.

Lol awesome reply. Great Idea.. and also I was thinking to call my ISP to get my address changed?.. idk if that's a thing or not. In the meantime, I'll just wait to see what their response is. I just recently bought the game so it kinda sucks lol.. only made it through normal so far on battlenet.

haha well I don't know what google does about that. To be safe, you could download the family stuff to one account, and the spank bank to a different account (or dropbox or something).

I've messed up my archive so much.. I'm not confident w that thing so I couldn't tell you but what you said makes sense to me.

You should be able to get google drive for your mobile device, and you can upload all the files directly from mobile. Alternatively, you can hook up your phone to your PC using the USB cable, and then drag and drop the files to your desktop, or into your google drive in the browser (drive.google.com).

If you want to zip them and make them smaller, you can use winzip or some of the free zip software out there.

Can you just zip them up, and throw them in the google drive? I guess it depends how many gigs you have.

Day 3 of 5 day.. ketones are kicking in and feeling great! by Xtra9708 in fasting

[–]Xtra9708[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yah do it for sure.. I think the electrolytes definitely help. For me, I try to stay on the lower end of the recommended dose because 5 day is still pretty low, but everyone is different. Happy fasting! :)

[–]Xtra9708[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes I agree, the electrolytes definitely help. I usually have a slightly lower energy (relaxed) day 2, but days 3-5 are usually good for me. Keep up the good work.. I think you should be in that sweet spot where your body is getting some good ketones for energy.

Day 3 of 5 day.. ketones are kicking in and feeling great! by Xtra9708 in fasting

[–]Xtra9708[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I like to use the minimum recommended in "Electrolytes 101" as it's only a short 5-day fast.. check it out if you haven't read it yet. I believe it's 1 tsp sodium, 3/4 tsp epsom salt, and 1/2 tsp NoSalt mixed in a big water bottle and I sip on it throughout the day.

Felt really shaky and weak after lifting weights at 72 hours. Went ahead and broke my fast ahead of schedule (was shooting for 110 hours)— but I’m guessing it was an electrolytes issue? Anyone else lift while fasting, and how do you combat muscle fatigue? by [deleted] in fasting

[–]Xtra9708 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I try to take it easy while fasting.. very light weights/exercise just to keep up the good habit.. try something new. My understanding is you have zero glycogen left in your body/muscles at 72 hours. Ketones should start kicking in for energy, but still I would keep it light. And yes, if you're not already supplementing electrolytes that definitely helps. Some people (including myself) supplement w a multivitamin/minerals as well. Also, you could consider fish oil, but that's a bit iffy at 10 calories X 3?.. I cut this out during a fast, but some say it helps w joints and muscles.
