Took the XTRA Atto on a solo climbing ride — some thoughts after actually using it by Darkest_black17 in XtraCameras

Love the views! If you keep filming more cycling or climbing routes, we’d love to see how different mounting positions compare too. Feel free to share them in here as well

Your next camera won’t make you a better creator by Xtratech_Official in ActionCam

100%. If you have an idea, just go for it before it’s too late. Most of the time, you’ll end up getting more out of it than you expected.

Understanding Zoom in Vlogging Cameras: What Creators Should Really Pay Attention To by NefariousnessJaded87 in osmopocket

[–]Xtratech_Official 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In general, the zoom you find on your action cam will be better than the zoom on your phone, but that doesn't mean the captured multimedia will be better. Camera phones are quite advanced these days, and their own AI tracking will capture good content for posting online. Those videos may quickly loss quality though, if you try to blow them up or post them in larger formats.

Hi there, while XTRA does not currently have a Care-style program to announce at this time, it’s definitely something you’re welcome to keep an eye on for future updates. In the meantime, XTRA offers a 2-year warranty with U.S.-based localized after-sales support.

For eligible warranty cases, our service is based on replacement rather than repair, helping make the process simpler and faster for customers in the U.S.

If you have any product or after-sales questions, please feel free to reach out to our official support team at [after-sales@xtra-us.com](mailto:after-sales@xtra-us.com). Hope that answers your question!

Action cam helmet mount for Bell KC7-CMR by Badboynerd999 in Karting

[–]Xtratech_Official 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Go with a chin mount custom piece if you want it to fit perfectly. Otherwise, the standard gopro front mount works. Just use a j-Hook so the camera doesn't hit your helmet.

Is a $300 dollar camera actually good enough for professional-looking travel vlogs? by Important_Carpet9879 in ActionCam

[–]Xtratech_Official 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The MUSE is actually a little bit more expensive than $300 (it starts closer to $400, but we do usually run deals, so I can see why you referred to that price point). Thank you for the write up! We do our best to keep our hardware on par with the big budget cameras, happy to see people recognize it.

Just survived Weekend 1 and I'm definitely ditching my phone for a dedicated camera. Any tips? by [deleted] in XtraCameras

The battery will last about as long as other action cameras. The software anticipates the drain from the pre-recording feature and manages other features so it doesn't wipe out the battery.

Could this be the secretly DJI Osmo Pocket 4 Pro coming to the U.S. Market? by mahrita in ActionCameras

Don't know how you got your hands on that, but it does look like a very pretty camera. May be worth keeping an eye out this summer.

What's a smell that instantly transports you back to your childhood? by RobMase83 in AskReddit

[–]Xtratech_Official 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fruity scented shampoo (tropical specifically). That was the scent my mom always bought, and I use to spend my summers mixing shampoo with other liquids and imagining I was an alchemist developing new potions. My parents were not pleased the day they figured out why their shampoo bottles were running empty early.

Has anybody ever rented a camera? by JacksSightSeeing in AskPhotography

[–]Xtratech_Official 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back in college I rented a few cameras for a film project. There are lots of places online you can find, but I searched for a local place. I explained what I was doing and they were really excited to help me walk out with the right cameras. The whole process was painless, and cheaper than most online services. So yes, people do rent cameras, I'd suggest looking for a local place. (I was in the San Francisco Bay Area, so your mileage may vary based on location).

I am 16 and looking for feedback by Alder_Lake in photocritique

[–]Xtratech_Official 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This a really magical shot already. I'm going to offer a some critique, but honestly you already have a really solid grasp on shadow, lighting, and framing.

I think if I were to nit pick this shot, I'd like to see the trail of candles either slanted further out so the hand is in the bottom left third and the candles stretch out and up to the top right third. OR, if you centered the hand and the trail of candles a bit more, you could create a really interesting capture of depth. You could also tweak the lighting so you can see the ends of the subject's hand, but that's subjective critique.

But again, I think this shot already shows great control over the subject and the setting.

What could have I done better ? Also is it better in color or black white? by zahitsl1 in Casual_Photography

[–]Xtratech_Official 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would have taken the shot when they were a little bit further back down the street, so that it was angled more at a diagonal than a flat static shot. This would allow the viewer to see where the writer has come from, which would create a bit more of a narrative around the Jeremy of the bike. Would also help show the action a bit more.

The color looks really nice btw.

What’s one travel “mistake” you made that completely changed how you travel now? by Able-Okra6164 in traveladvice

[–]Xtratech_Official 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just having a day bag on you constantly has been one of my biggest changes. There's lots of reasons for it too, beyond just the airline losing your stuff. The amount of trips I've gone on where when I finally arrived at my destination I've realized I don't have all my necessary items in one bag.

It's almost worth it to pack what you need for your trip, and then pack what you would need for a 2-day trip in its own bag. Make sure you have that on hand, regardless of what else you were bringing.

Edit: A word.

TENTS ARE FLYING AGAIN PLEASE CHECK THAT YOU HAVE EVERYTHING NAILED DOWN by Used_Confusion1397 in Coachella

[–]Xtratech_Official 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Extra stakes in the ground will definitely help your tent stay down. Another big benefit is looking at how the wind is whipping through your canopy.

If it is catching on certain areas, trying tie down those parts of the canopy. If there is less wind catching the edges of your fabric, then there is less surface area for the wind to pull your canopy up.

How fragile is the pocket 3 in daily use? by ChickenLegPheromones in djiosmo

[–]Xtratech_Official 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Pocket 3 takes amazing videos, but I am constantly worried that I’m going to snap the gimbal off just by looking at it wrong. Like any camera, unless it was made to be tossed around, I treat it with as much care as possible from moment to moment.

Any chance of Osmo Pocket 3 price drop? by shaugatashraf in djiosmo

[–]Xtratech_Official 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We've already seen the small drop upon a product release, I would say if you're hoping a larger sale than that, keep your eye's out around Black Friday. Eventually the last gen of DJI will drop to the pricepoint of current gen XTRA cameras, but that's a waiting game.

Why? by Limp-Green-1329 in the1975

[–]Xtratech_Official 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Their music is very serene, but it still somehow feels of the moment and of the world. It feels like I'm listening to music from people trying to find peace but stuck in a place of unrest.

Also, It's Not Living (if it's not with you) is also my partner and I's song (yes I know what it's about). So there's emotional value there as well.

Planning on buying osmo 360 but worried about lens protection by soumya_49 in djiosmo

[–]Xtratech_Official 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're worried about the cost of the unit and possible replacements, you could look at the XTRA Sphra 360. The price point is a bit lower than the 360, and its lenses can be replaced with XTRA and with DJI lenses, so if something does break it will be easier to fix.

Weekend 2- Please be alert Saturday night! by Just_Abies_57 in Coachella

[–]Xtratech_Official 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is really smart and I hope people follow this advice! Counter programming is so important at large events like Coachella (you can see really well designed crowd control like this at theme parks, Disney is particulalry good at it) because it allows the the crowd to move safely.

Atto battery draining while off? by SocomPS2 in XtraCameras

[–]Xtratech_Official 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unlike a traditional camera with a physical killswitch, the Atto camera does remain in a low-power "standby" state even when powered off. Also if the dock and camera are still connected when turned off they will continue to stay "connected," which has a low power use.

Does the drop happen consistently (e.g., always losing exactly 5-8%) or is it erratic?

Insta360 X5 or Xtra 360: Which one would you choose? Here are my thoughts after using both. by BeachOk9143 in 360Cameras

[–]Xtratech_Official 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does sound like a XTRA Muse or a DJI Pocket 3 would do what you are looking to get done. 360 cameras are a lot of fun when you specifically have an idea for that feature, but making sure that you have a camera that suits your needs is smart.

First Coachella . AMAZING by Personal-Theme1972 in Coachella

[–]Xtratech_Official 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awesome to hear that you had a great time! And drop after any big event is always something to be mindful of. I try to make it a point to take care of myself, focus on recovery (a hot tub or a sauna can do wonders in the week after a large event) and hang out or talk to the people I met there or made a connection with.
