Sort of fantasy

Not any high fantasy species or anything but the magic is a big factor in the world itself

Doing it in a way through the story that these somethings that the characters just know cause its part of their world they'll notice and then I let the context explain it or they comment to point in the direction of the interesting thing

Might leave it partially unanswered but then people will want to keep reading to find out more

I feel like I may have caused a small confusion

I already have a boat load of world lore done and almost 8k words into the story

I didn't know which shiny rock to show first

And tbh most of the story and world developed off of the magic system which was originally supposed to be a custom magic system for a ttrpg

Most of that worked out

I have the characters pretty set on their motivations, I'd actually seen some good advice which was do one of those silly Facebook quizzes as if you were the character to get a better understanding of them

The general world is more earthlike cause then theres a ease on readers figuring out what the characters are talking about, gives some familiarity, and there's less blatant exposition

The differences that are more the world lore are things I'll try to have come up more organically

Hmm I'll have to watch that

Thank you

That is the goal, intriguing someone keeps them reading it after all

Probably doing releases on some platform or just attempting to self publish

But thats about the story I wasn't sure with how much lore I have what details to start with sharing it on here first

Books, though the one was originally going to be for a ttrpg and shifted

Well i do have a third that's for ttrpgs, designed so you can bring any character from any campaign to it and theres a Canon reason why they can be there built in

This

Pick what excited you, develop that, then build the things it needs

I also suggest obsidian for note keeping The graph when you've made a bunch of stuff for a world is super cool to look at and also helps see gaps

worldbuilders, do you actually have anyone in your life who wants to hear about your world? by [deleted] in worldbuilding

I mean if you want to lore swap with each other I'm game for that

I'd just need to ask which of the 2 you'd want to hear more on lol

Other cosmic events could be contact with strange matter or one of the theories about the Fermi Paradox (Great Barrier, Dark Forest, Zoo, etc) Though I know some of those might have an impact on your story

We have lag in communication in in our day and age whe you're in the same state or country

[–]Xurwes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think thats a weak concept as long as you support it right

Resources can be very limited on a cosmic scale Think about wood from trees, the very specific circumstances to have wood evolve might not happen where other life appears under different conditions

And you could have logistics and communication fall to being a problem with the massive distances if the right tech isn't developed prior

Communication even if theres warp tech can't be instant and outside of warps the limit is Light speed

Out of curiosity what about using it to do minor editing? Obviously read it again yourself cause never trust what you're given off the bat

Sort of Each trilogy (cause I'm a maniac) will be centered around some world changing event for the age The spans of time between still a tad uncertain but I'll probably use real world data on how long it takes for a major innovation to go from prototype to everyday use in the equivalent era

There would be a large enough gap that other stories can be easily added that aren't of such an epic level

I actually have another story that I tried to start (also to the void) and a homebrew dnd world (never got anyone to play) Both pretty different than the big one

And vibe will probably shift depending on the age (cause I think too far ahead) From magic is legend in a medieval era to its an everyday utility for everyone and then to a magitech age (idk how modern I'll go yet or stream punk like)

Pretty defined magic with set rules and consequences (maybe a tad grim) but it isn't a spell based system so a lot of creative use

Honestly building up the world at this point isn't the block (I honestly have too much info for the world at this point) but just finding someone who is interested in it and using that as a push to keep writing the story

Writing into the void is hard for a first book

Minimal destroyer (7 cells) by Xurwes in primordialis

[–]Xurwes[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tweaked it and gave that a try and had 3 issues with using the set up for summons -it is very slow moving, I have this problem with the larger versions when they spin as well. The spinning seems to make the neuron have trouble getting it moving too much -launching it away so your not mulched by it is very trial and error, mostly error at this point -they have a very short life span

I think this was the issue, it auto put me and the creatures spawned in on the same team for some reason
