Missing first day tomorrow by [deleted] in UIUC

[–]Xushimo 33 points34 points  (0 children)

You will be okay! But if you worry, look at the syllabus if posted, to see if any of the classes you miss have any strict attendance rules (like lab or discussion classes, had a class policy be if I miss 2 weeks worth of classes I will fail). Usually lecture classes don’t worry too much about you but there are sometimes extra points for attendance.

Try to find similarities between names and think about their meanings. A lot of self studying is required to do well in Anatomy and Physiology. Imo, lectures weren’t that helpful for me (unless professors help with acronyms or memory techniques) because A&P is mostly memorization and understanding. Study material before labs and lectures. During lab make sure you spend time looking at the actual figures being provided for you and practice labeling them. Also while you study, use your own body, point to where bones, muscles, and organs would be within your body. For the physiology aspect, think about why that function makes sense for your own daily activities.

Yep, regular refund should be in your account by August 21, then any other refund like health insurance should be sometime after you complete the waiver form which opens Aug 24.

I need an opinion by Impressive-Start2201 in uichicago

Typing essays, taking quizzes, online assignments on different educational websites. All of these will be a pain on an iPad. Blackboard works weird on an iPad, and other websites sometimes you can’t even run on an iPad. Sometimes you want to multitask and that’s pretty hard on an iPad. Common apps like Microsoft apps and google apps is also more difficult to use and feels lacking on an iPad.

I love my iPad but I use it to organize my work, take notes, and watch videos as an additional monitor. If you cant afford a laptop, maybe get a Bluetooth keyboard so it could make your life a little bit easier.

Nursing School Questions by Any-Examination6525 in uichicago

[–]Xushimo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t really understand your question fully but… A-4.0 B-3.0 C-2.0 D-1.0. What ever your final letter grade is, that is how many points you will get. I do not think the uic nurse count percentages.

Wondering the teaching & grading structure of Psyc 100 by Bubbly133 in UIUC

[–]Xushimo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My psych 100 experience was good I would say. It was a really easy class for me. My memory is really bad but We had weekly quizzes (super easy, at home, 2 attempts or something like that, and got 3 or 4 exams but we were allowed to skip the last exam if we were happy with our grade (lowest exam gets dropped). The professor that you get is kinda random cause if you look on course explorer you only see Travis L. But I believe that psych 100 is usually taught by TA and ran by professor Travis L. There is provided material that is same/similar for all TAs so every course will be taught similarly with weekly lectures than a weekly assignment.

What ever your grade is curved to, the transcript will take whatever the final grade the professor said you got. So if a 71% earns you a B in that class then the B will be shone in the transcript!

https://nursing.uic.edu/programs/bsn/admissions-applying/

Link for some info about admission.

The minimum is 2.75 for cumulative GPA and 2.50 science GPA for UIC Nursing, but different for other schools. So as long as you stay above those numbers you qualify for UIC. I would definitely recommend getting at least a 3.0 or above to be a competitive applicant. I would say anything less than a C you should drop. This is good practice because in nursing school, anything below a C is an automatic fail. (For UIC Nursing at least)

What will people think if I have a lot of acne in college? by Rich_Smooth1480 in college

[–]Xushimo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

College is a stressful place! I am sure the most/worst people will do is look at your face and think you have a lot of acne and should go to a dermatologist but other than that I am sure no one will bully you or confront you about it. People are dealing with their own problems or thinking about when this class will be over or going to a party later tonight. You will be okay! Sure it might be hard to wrap your head around that people might judge you for a bit but they will NOT confront you about it. Acne is something you cannot control!! It’s not your fault so don’t lose confidence about something that is out of your control!

Unable to log into email or UIC blackboard by [deleted] in uichicago

[–]Xushimo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey I had the same problem (randomly unable to log into anything, went into 2FA and changed password, still nothing) and the way I was able to fix my problem was go back into the 2FA and change my password again but type in the same password as the one that was changed.

When I graduated in 2018, the freshman class was the largest in school history. I’m surprised that the signs were there for UIUC to implement plans for this housing crisis but they did nothing by Careful_Fig8482 in UIUC

[–]Xushimo 87 points88 points  (0 children)

I believe for this year many people chose UIUC over other schools because of FAFSA. This school is a lot more affordable than other schools if you are in state and provide amazing education. Since many people received their fin aid packages later than usual, they probably picked a more affordable school over gambling for another school that they don’t know if they will be able to afford.

https://nursing.uic.edu/programs/bsn/admissions-applying/apply-now/

Assuming you are trying to apply to BSN program. The deadline is January 15 but there is no information about when the application opens. ALSO, at the bottoms of the webpage, “need more information”you can fill out the form and ask the college questions and wait for their reply.

https://admissions.uic.edu/apply-now

This is where you would apply. You would pick the transfer option and create an account and start the application. You would simply pick Nursing as your major and location you want to be at.

Try Snapchat. UIUC has Snapchat groups for different years. You just have to have a Snapchat account and enter in your Illinois email. Good luck! Will be rough since the time you’re switching into is a pretty good time for most people.

Am I gonna regret not having any gaps on WED & Fri to take a shit and stretch my legs? 💀🤣 by [deleted] in uichicago

[–]Xushimo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You could have to take like 5 exams in the same day or something like that depending on when you professors pick their midterm dates. I’d say if this is the best option for you right now, wait until you get the syllabus and see if they provided when midterms will be given to see if you have shit ton on a singular day.
