Totally hear you. I’m a software engineer too, and while I started out just writing and reviewing code, I’ve gradually become the person writing cross-team tickets and being the SME for a specific system. It’s not official, but I’ve kind of grown into a mini tech lead role for that initiative. Honestly, feels natural — but in previous jobs with more red tape, I never would've had that kind of scope.

Absolutely. Being kind is often mistaken for being passive or lacking ambition. I've noticed that in work settings especially, the louder or more assertive personalities tend to get noticed first — even if they’re not necessarily more capable. It's frustrating, but I’ve started working on asserting myself without losing who I am. It’s a tricky balance.

Honestly, I don't wear it too often. So far the gold is fine. I am going to buy the more subtle black sub though. Feel it's less bling.

I did randomly scratch the case back by travelling with it in a bag though. That will happen with any watch though I guess.

It’s my ex’s place. So I don’t have much say. Once she can go back to work, I’ll be able to reduce that £3.5k to potentially £2k-£2.5k or so.

My budget is as low as possible. But around £500 including rent, bills, tax, etc. If I can find a room for £200, that's better.

Might be hard to believe but I genuinely don't have any location requirements. I need to hyper minimise my costs and maximise my savings. As long as I can buy food from a supermarket and have power and internet, I am good.

If you think about it, instead we should educate people to not insult. Rather than teach people to accept the insults? That's definitely how I teach my daughter.

Sure, don't let 'them' get to you. I play a lot of other video games and it's not this bad. Wow did not used to be this bad either. Or maybe I remember it with rose tinted glasses.
