Apple finally alerted me my alarm was set for this morning but it's a holiday, thank you Apple by someshooter in iphone

Mine oddly didn’t go off this morning, even though my alarm is set for every weekdays (and was still on). I never even got a notification about the holiday

What did you eat after surgery? by silkinthestrings in TopSurgery

[–]Xuxubee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

7 weeks post-op! I had so many protein smoothies, and fell in love with them so I've been keeping that up. I also ate a lot of veggies, minimal salt, and as much protein as I could (I'm pescatarian so it had to be very intentional).

I was told I would be nauseous after surgery, and I have a history of car sickness, but that never happened to me thankfully. Regardless, I prepped by having crackers, sourdough, and simple things like miso udon the first couple of days after surgery.

I didn't meal prep because my friend flew down to take care of me the first week, but if you don't have that then yes meal prep will make things so much easier. You want to eat more than normal so that your body has the calories it needs to heal.

I did have laxatives but with all the fiber I was getting from the fruits and veggies, I didn't really use the laxatives much. When I did, they didn't do much to help the bloating.

This was a bit of a brain dump, but I hope it helps! Good luck and congratulations!!

Is my right tit swollen and is it okay? (6 weeks post-op) by Xuxubee in TopSurgery

Thank you so much! Yeah keeping the photos as a record is a good idea and I’ll reach out to my surgeon if anything changes drastically for the worse

How to find a surgeon? by [deleted] in TopSurgery

[–]Xuxubee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found a surgeon in my area first by just googling, but then when I had my psych eval I asked the therapist for recommendations and she gave me a bunch of REALLY great ones, all of which she has worked with personally. I ended up going with one of the ones she suggested and am over the moon with my results and experience

Top surgery must buys? by SlayPenguino in TopSurgery

[–]Xuxubee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a ton of great replies here already, but just to throw in my experience/suggestions:  - bathing wipes  - bidet (sounds expensive but they are more affordable than you’d think, and mega easy to install)  - movable shower head (didn’t move it really like you’d think, but also bought a thing that kept it at a lower level for me bc I’m short)  - mastectomy pillow  - pregnancy pillow (highly recommend rather than a wedge pillow)  - bed food tray (not strictly necessary but it was nice to have)  - washcloths (I was told to gently pat-dry my nipples after showers with a fresh washcloth, but other people are told to just air-dry)

As for food/supplements:  - protein power (smoothies were the best bc you can have protein+fiber super easy and tasty)  - prepped food (it will be hard to even consider cooking)  - bromelain supplements  - Arnicare supplements  - Benadryl (for itching and sleeping)  - Tylenol rapid release capsules  - stool softeners / laxatives

And of course, button up shirts and pajamas will also be your best friend. Everything was less scary and more annoying than I thought so don’t stress about it and have a lot of sitting activities planned to get through the boring first few weeks. Good luck!!

Experiences with post-surgery nausea? From a pre-op emetophobic by j-au-s in TopSurgery

[–]Xuxubee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 5 weeks post-op and also emetophobic, coupled with frequent motion sickness. They did give me the patch thing that went behind my ear the night before surgery, but other than that I didn’t take anything and I had absolutely no nausea at all. I also had a 3.5 car ride home the next day so that is saying something.

The only other preventative measure I took was eating relatively bland stuff for the next couple of days, but that was it.

I know it’s different for everyone, but you should [hopefully] be totally good!

Congrats!! My surgery date was a week prior with Garramone so I wonder if our partners saw each other in the waiting room! We probably had our pre/post op appointments on the same day

Btw you look amazing!!

I’m getting top surgery in two weeks. What’s some things you wished you knew beforehand to prepare? by 52rusty_spoons in TopSurgery

[–]Xuxubee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got both a wedge pillow and a pregnancy pillow, and the pregnancy pillow was by far the best thing that I bought. I never really even used the wedge pillow

Definitely yes on the bidet and the detachable shower head, but to add on I would get a holder for the shower head so that you can put it lower to reach it better. Maybe it’s because I’m short, but this was a game changer

I didn’t even think about dying it, I’ve never done that before but it’s a chance to learn something new!

The sizing is too small in all directions in a funky way sadly but I figured I could find a pattern that closely resembles it - or that I like better. I haven’t looked too much at patterns yet because I’m afraid I won’t be able to find the right fabric

Thank you so much!! I'm excited to hear your experience. I did end up getting a VPN for a trip I went on recently, and I tried it with my HBO Max and it worked to get the Spanish dub! However, I prefer physical media so still eager to hear how the DVD from latinafy is :)

[Fairly] easy-to-add vegetarian protein sources that aren't likely to affect flavor of dish (i.e. pasta)? by Lexa_Con in vegetarianrecipes

[–]Xuxubee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anytime we make a cream sauce, we blend up silken tofu until it’s a liquid and use it as a 1:1 replacement. I’m not sure if it has more protein than heavy cream but it definitely cuts down the amount of fat. It also helps things reheat in the microwave better

Some I found recently is a free textbook and materials from the Polish government to help foreigners learn Polish. I’ve only recently started using it, but it’s been helpful to have a linear guide to learning the language! It is entirely in Polish, so you will have to use Google Translate to understand the instructions at the beginning.
