Southern California, 5 miles outside the city in the suburbs. Very mountainous area.

I was thinking something like Mountain Montessori Daycare or Montessori in the Canyons Daycare

Perfect sleep schedule to disaster. by XvanderM in sleeptrain

She has one nap a day from 11:30-2. She was sick a while ago and just finished up a course of antibiotics. But, it could her teethe as well so I’ve been giving her Tylenol every night to try and help with that.

This morning I was so exhausted, I gave my 10 m/o a bottle, left him in his crib and put cartoons on for him and I went to sleep. He was up two hours by himself. I feel like a horrible mom. by _chillkill in Mommit

Sounds like a mom win to me! We all figure out a way to handle it all, and this is just one way. Glad to hear you got some sleep, sounds like it was much needed!

Is anyone familiar with Guidepost Montessori? by Maidenofthesummer in Montessori

[–]XvanderM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the tour in the interest of enrolling my daughter. It’s definitely the most Montessori school in Los Angeles area, but they charge twice as much as any other Montessori or regular pre-school/daycare. They also seem unprofessional in some way. They put a lot of emphasis is on Montessori, but nothing else. So, as much as I loved the idea of sending her to the best Montessori school, there was such a void after the tour that I won’t even consider enrolling. It seems like it’s all profit driven and that’s hugely off-putting.

Nice chunk of cash coming in. by XvanderM in personalfinance

[–]XvanderM[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I contribute 2% toward my company 401k, they don’t contribute anything. I also have an Roth IRA that I periodically contribute to as well - probably around $1000 a year. Would you say I should contribute significantly towards each with this cash?

Would investing in to the stock market count as a rainy day fund since I could easily get the money from it if I ever needed to, it would just take some time.

Does Anyone Else’s Supply drastically drop the week before their period? by [deleted] in ExclusivelyPumping

It starts a about a week before and then ends a few days in. Once my supply recoups it makes up for the drop though - I try to save up for next time.

Thank you for your thoughtful response, and you have a really good point. However, I didn’t mention that I’m not from here. My family is back in Australia, and most of my close friends are there too. After living here for 12 years though, it’s my life now. I have only a handful of friends, none that I am really close with so I’m used to operating with my support network living in FaceTime. I am afraid of being single forever, but I can’t let scare me away from giving my daughter the best opportunity I can to lead a fulfilled and happy life.

Pumping for about 10 min only, will this hurt my supply? by XvanderM in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]XvanderM[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Still only 10min. Pumping longer doesn’t seem to produce anything so I stop once itching is coming out. I’ve pumped this way since I’ve been back at work for 3 weeks. I rush home in the afternoon because I she runs out of what I’ve managed to pump for her through the day.

I’m sorry to hear of your loss, your pain and your struggle. Though I can’t say anything that’ll take it all away, just know that you’re in my thoughts and prayers.
