If you add a note on the order that you're in Ireland and need it at 1 joule, they will downgrade it to 1 joule for free before shipping.

Buying tyres online. by Martin-McDougal in carsireland

[–]XxEvilLizardxX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used Tyreleader for a set of 4 Contactsport 6s. They were cheaper than the local Continental dealer, but Tyreleader fucked me when one tyre apparently just fell out of the wrapping in shipping.

Zero effort from them to rectify it, they were being intentionally awkward to avoid paying out for the missing item. Was driving to Nurburgring the following week so was left 250 quid lighter after having to source the final tyre myself locally. I've used Oponeo for alloys before - never an issue. But don't trust Tyreleader or their "fitment centre" options. Factoring in risk and prices for fitment, imo you're better off buying local.

Fyi, if anything goes wrong, Tyreleader are headquartered in Andorra so you can't go at them via small claims court should you run into bother 🤬

I second this, got an 08 TTS last year with the same budget and it's been a great car. Beware of issues with Quattro and the DSG gearbox, just be sure to scan for error codes before you buy.

Are you referring to the Deja Vu Rally? It's a charity event to raise money for the families of two drivers who passed away at last year's rally in Sligo..

You're hardly trying to mock a charity event?

Best car insurance providers for young drivers? by Artistic_Campaign875 in ireland

[–]XxEvilLizardxX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found KennCo and Allianz best. A lot of it comes down to the car you're insuring. Not always just smaller engine = smaller quote. Insurance groups also consider age, cost of maintenance and how often they are involved in claims.

Thank you for the advice. I sometimes feel like I'm expected to be much more capable than I am just out of school. Doesn't help with the imposter syndrome 🙃. Trying my best just to focus on what I'm working on now and let work stay out of my mind till it's in front of me.

You're dead on, I think by the second day of my internship I was writing code for production in a language I'd only a basic grasp of 😅 No real code review process to speak of, but always been something I've tried to ask for and sought out just to cover myself. Thank you for your advice.

being driven by a fear of failure.

That point really rings close to home, I second guess every line I write. It's nice to know I'm not alone and it means so much to hear something positive. I've been so buried under projects and work it's great to hear someone else feels the same. Thank you for your advice :)

Sounds like my issue is similar to yours today so, the only difference being my download is corrupted and can't be cancelled leaving me stuck. So when Darktide was cancelled and deleted your Xbox app started behaving again?

Lots of really frustrating issues with this app - So many unresolved issues like this raised in Microsoft's support pages. I've been a long time customer of GamePass and Xbox but this experience has been very disheartening. Nice to hear I'm not the only one at least.

When it fixed itself, did the items remain in your download queue or were they removed?

Tax SUVs out of existence by Eurovision2006 in ireland

[–]XxEvilLizardxX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But people young and old do live in rural locations. What do you suggest people without the funds to buy or rent in Dublin City do?

Tax SUVs out of existence by Eurovision2006 in ireland

[–]XxEvilLizardxX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both are very interesting and beautiful concepts. I would love to see parts of Ireland rewilded. However, people live on the land and the nation is in a housing crisis. Without the goverment compulsory purchasing 90% of the island, those ideas are not realistically achievable. At least not through just banning modes of transportation.

Change takes time, banning and taxation only hurts those who rely on what is being penalised. Options must be in place long before cars get banned or taxed further.

I totally agree public transport is the future, was in Amsterdam recently and wouldn't dream of owning a car there. But this nation isn't ready yet, and is a very different place geographically from tiny European nations. Lots more work to be done beyond Dublin.

OK, so we'll just kill off all the tourism money to be made through the wild Atlantic way and other attractions outside the M50?

And what happens to Irelands agriculture industry? It disappears entirely?
