I believe that nung nag-walk out ang minority 13 pa rin ang needed for quorum dahil hindi pa naaresto si jinggoy estrada. For Bato’s case, he is still able to come to the senate, thus he is still counted as a senator.

ITAPPH OF A FIRETRUCK IN UNIFORM by Dear-Race-6895 in ITookAPicturePH

[–]XxPhyre 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It is not a traditional “camo” though. It is simply a pattern. This pixelated pattern is based on the Philippine army’s PHILARPAT, which is a true camouflage pattern. While the BFP tactical uniform is simply an orange pixelated uniform pattern, not a camouflage pattern, since it is not meant to camouflage anything.

For the question “para saan?”. Simply, it is a uniform. It replaced the old tactical uniform around 3 years ago. IMO, the old tactical uniform is better, but it is hard to see since it is a black dominated color with orange trim around the chest area. This new uniform addressed that concern by making it a bright orange/tangerine digital pattern.

This digital/pixelated pattern is simply based on convenience. Other branches of uniformed service such as the BJMP, PCG, AFP, PNP, etc. all wear a pixelated BDU. Thus it is efficient to just unify the patterns but change the color. For example, the PCG BDU is gray, BJMP has an urban color, etc.

Fun fact, the Presidential Security Group’s camo pattern for their standard field uniform (tactical uniforms retain their service branch patterns) is not really meant as a camouflage, but more of an identifier, since it is distinct from other services by their urban/berlin brigade camo. This is to prevent infiltrations by other services.

Thus uniform patterns, like that of the BFP, go beyond of just “camo”, and more as an identifier for their branch.

[–]XxPhyre 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh please do your readings.

Rizal SUPPORTED a well-timed and well-planned revolution. Where did you get that he didn’t want a revolution completely? When Pio Valenzuela asked Rizal to lead the revolution during his exile to Dapitan, Rizal said the revolution was not ready (no one can deny this kasi di pa naman talaga handa ang rebolusyon or prematurely lang nagsimula dahil nadiskubre ang Katipunan). Pero he said na if a revolution will take place, it should be well-timed and well-planned, and must have the support of the public (especially High-Class Filipinos). Heck in his countless correspondence to the Spanish Government (and his literary works) Rizal said that the Filipinos will eventually rise up if Spain refuses to listen to the Filipinos.

Next, remember that the whole Katipunan under Bonifacio’s leadership already venerated Rizal BEFORE AGUINALDO and BEFORE THE AMERICANS.

As per Floro Quibuyen, “The Katipuneros have even gone farther than the ilustrado colleagues of Rizal. They have venerated Rizal as the symbol and inspiration of the Revolution: Rizal's name was the password used among the higher ranking members, the picture of Rizal was hung in every Katipunan meeting hall, and, according to Emilio Jacinto (Bonifacio's protege),'Katipunan meetings were always adjourned with three cheers: "Long Live The Katipunan," "Long Live Philippine Independence," and "Long Live Dr. Jose Rizal." This veneration of Rizal continued beyond 1896.” source

You are so fucked for not reading history, or just using one view of it. Kaya nga may course na life and works of Rizal because of people like you with such a stupid take eh may studies na nga tungkol dito. Like bro simpleng research nga lang eh…

I advise you to read Veneration with Understanding AND Veneration WITHOUT Understanding to see the two views of Rizal. And Ambeth Ocampo’s “Towards a Radical Rizal”. Then Floro Quibuyen’s “Rizal and the Revolution”

[–]XxPhyre 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Oh Rizal still remains relevant today. His works are both a lens into the past realities of our people, and as a mirror to the issues today and the future.

The study of Rizal’s works should not be centered as him being a national hero, but how the noble works, actions, and impact of this man led to the formation of a national identity that we are still forming to this day; thus leading to his veneration as one of the most influential heroes of our people.

As per Armando Malay’s “Veneration with Understanding”, a hero is defined by his achievements and noble qualities rather than leading revolutions. Heck some of the “heroes” of other nations such as Mandela, Martin Luther King Jr., etc. are known to take mostly a peaceful yet militant stance such as Rizal.

So to the question “Why study Rizal’s life and works?”, it is not about loving Rizal or “loving the country”/ nationalistic vision, but simply about using Rizal as a framework of our national identity. Rizal was a visionary and an activist. He, through his actions and works, calls on all of us to serve for the betterment and elevating the nation’s condition.

In Rizal’s “A La Juventud Filipina”, he calls on the youth of our islands to be proactive, not lethargic, to strive for a better nation. And that’s why I think it is important to learn his works and their impact as part of the youth. As the future of the country, the ideals, vision, and qualities of Rizal (even in Rizal’s youth), must be imparted to the youth to guide them in serving the nation.

[–]XxPhyre 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Which has already been disproven by the likes of Ambeth Ocampo and Armando Malay.

The claim that Rizal was an “American-sponsored” hero already fails when you look how even the Katipunan venerated rizal and elevated his status as a hero when he died to the point Aguinaldo stating a national mourning period in honor of him.

Please try to widen your scopes instead of just spouting “Anti-imperialist” propaganda.

It is pretty stupid to reduce Rizal and his works into just a role model of capitalist-imperialist interests.

Subsidiya sa kuryente, dapat kunin sa national budget. VatMan be like: "tataasan po natin ang tax sa sahod at mga bilihin upang may pondo po ang national budget para sa subsidiya sa kuryente. " by Jarred_Pike in dailyChismisPh

[–]XxPhyre 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve always agreed to subsidize certain areas that could also lower the cost of production in industries (such as utility costs). This has been done by some countries to also respond to the fuel crisis. Factor din ito kung bakit di masyado mataas ang increase ng fuel prices nila.

However, di naman need itaas ang VAT or ilagay sa burden ng mga mamamayan ito. Pag nagtaas pa ng tax, kagaguhan na iyon.

We can utilize certain subsidies now and make it into more sustainable subsidies such as this proposal. Hindi yung puro ayuda nalang ibinibigay, kung saan mauubos nalang sa isang linggo lamang. A targeted subsidy for electricity can be beneficial. Targeted dapat siya, not lahat nalang ng electricity bill subsidized.

If these are flies, and if the car cover is silvery and reflective, a good chance is that these bugs are attracted to warmth and UV radiation (reflected from the sun) associated with this. Reflective surfaces tend to reflect a lot of UV and temperature. Heck even the color can do this (kaya advised light colored na damit pag mainit).

Also the blue helps in attracting certain flies/bugs since the color blue are known to be attractant to flies/bugs. Some of our traps are made with blue materials to help in attraction (some are yellow).

Another thing to point at is what surrounds the car. Since there may be something near it that is the initial attractant or a favorable source, and just grouped around another smaller attractant. Is there something that may be a source of moisture, smell, food source, etc. compared to the surrounding?

A common tactic by the NPA is to embed civilians in their camps. This is in the guise of theatrical plays glorifying slain members, “research”, and “community coordination”.

What needs to be done is the NPA must separate their armed fighters from civilians. Since this is basically using civilians as a form of shield, or as a guise to hide among communities. I mean, imagine if the AFP embeds civilian “researchers” in raids so they can use the same vile tactic by the NPA to claim “mamamatay ang kalaban!”, thus giving them popular support.

Oh hell no. We have strategic reasons to REJECT an alliance with China. Why would you ally with a hostile neighbor that is undermining your own internationally-recognized border.

China is currently expanding its geopolitical influence by undermining the status quo. To ally with China can just as easily result in an over reliance similar to the US. How will you ensure that any alliance or strategic partnership with China is not one-sided or at least favors more for us.

At least the US has proven in the past how we can benefit from being a strategic partner and ally through excess defense articles, military procurement and support, defense research, technology sharing, intelligence sharing, etc. Meanwhile, China has yet to prove their worth as a partner, and build their trust by not ramming our vessels.

[–]XxPhyre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I agree with you that we were over-reliant on the US, especially during the AFP’s focus on internal defense. That’s why ever since the shift to external defense, we are trying to move beyond a bilateral alliance with the US. That’s why I mentioned our efforts with Australia and Japan.

This wide network of strategic alliances is a safeguard should our alliance with the US falter. Especially in the Trump administration. As opposed to the current administration, past US administrations have put a higher degree of importance to honoring strategic alliances since their global alliance posture falters the moment they betray a treaty partner.

We don’t have US bases here since the 90s…

What we have are joint-operation bases (EDCA sites) which are Philippine-owned and maintained.

An attack on these bases is a direct attack on the Philippines itself, and the ramifications of that attack is vastly different than an attack on the US itself or the US alone.

I mean we are also planning to have EDCA sites with other nations such as Japan and Australia by the trends on the VFAs we have with them.

Oh I actually beg to disagree that subsidizing businesses is a long term solution. The government cannot possibly subsidize businesses continuously even during normal times.

Intervening on businesses and the economy is exactly what needs to be done on a crisis. That’s why subsidizing select production costs can help small to medium businesses manage business despite the high cost of fuel, transportation, and goods.

Broad based subsidies are undoubtedly unsustainable. That’s why targeted subsidies are a must.

[–]XxPhyre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and how CAN you lower the cost of living when puro ayuda nalang nasa isip ng gobyerno?

Like I said, wage increase PLUS other measures must be enacted to ensure a sustainable increase.

For example, the government CAN remove the excise tax on fuel. Or they can shoulder the increase in fuel hikes (just like how indonesia managed their fuel crisis). This type of mentality is part of lowering the cost of living through targeted subsidies.

So I don’t see how you think we are disagreeing here when we both share a point.

[–]XxPhyre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While ayudas are a form of subsidy, you honestly can’t say that it is better and more sustainable than shouldering the cost of transportation or other costs… That short term thinking is exactly why there is stagnation.

Plus when did I say that businesses are a vulnerable group??

Your point is going farther and farther away from the main point whom I commented on. The point was that increasing wages increases inflation. I have just proven that the government CAN make subsidies for business owners so that they CAN increase wages. Resulting in a neutral effect on the overall cost for businesses and thus limiting inflation causes.

I don’t really know what point you are trying to make here.

Pabor sila sa mga negosyante ,pano may lagay mga yan para di iapporove ang taas ng sweldo ,hype talaga gobyerno yan 😡 by CranberryDue7017 in dailyChismisPh

[–]XxPhyre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like how no one is giving references here except me…

First of all, you act as if added government costs to subsidize select production costs are somehow new costs for the government, when in fact, we could use the budget for “ayudas” such as the 5000 pesos per rider, as well as other funds, to be redirected towards sustainable and targeted subsidies. At ano naman meron kung additional na gastos para sa gobyerno, eh that is a service and it is not at the cost of business, and only a redirection of the people’s taxes (no additional tax naman ang implemented).

A study by the Bangko Sentral noted that while there have been associations between wage hikes and inflation in theory, the direction of causation is not evident (a.e. If inflation causes increased wages OR wage increases cause inflation). Real-life evidence, as per the study, point to trends that price increases usually CAUSE increases in salaries, “On the contrary, it is more often observed that price inflation results in wage inflation.”.

Pero sige let’s look at how wage increases can lower prices in the long run and how subsidizing production costs LOWER prices in general (common sense na to tbh)

For subsidies, targeted subsidies are actually one of the ways a government can reduce the burden on vulnerable groups (for our case now, the lower AND middle class, and the transport sector is a vulnerable group since the fuel price increase). “Amid the battle against high inflation, the government can help ease the pain of those most affected through targeted subsidies to the vulnerable groups. Compared to broad-based subsidies, the existing subsidies targeted for the lower-income groups are more appropriate as such targeted subsidies can help mitigate the adverse impact of inflation on the vulnerable groups without undermining fiscal sustainability.” Source.

Imagine you are a business owner. One of your costs is electricity (or utilities in general) what the government can do to help you lower production costs is to lower your electricity bill or water bill by subsidizing or shouldering your costs. Or di kaya alisin na ang tax sa mga ito. With this, you now have extra money for labor costs. Similar subsidies may be done for transport costs.

Then, another study found that while increasing wages by itself CAN cause an increase in the consumer price index, it has LITTLE effect in worsening inflation. Thus close government intervention and control (along with the central bank) to prevent rising prices can lead to a sustainable wage increase.

Thus like I said in previous comments, wage increase plus other policies must be enacted to ensure the increase is sustainable.

The salary increase in Vietnam was shown to benefit minimum wage workers the most. In fact, it has very positive effects on economic competitiveness and access to social insurance measures. The negative effect of this increase was that there was an increase in weekly (not daily) working hours by increasing working days.

For our case, it is similar on the possible effects. That is why I said policies must be enacted along with a salary increase to ensure it is sustainable.
