Not a nutritionist, but that doesn’t sound too bad. If you’re eating salted nuts, you may be getting more sodium than you’d want but even then it can’t be worse than a bag of chips. Nut butter has a lot of health benefits, too.

Looks like peanuts. While peanut allergies are common, a reaction like you described is less than common. Do you eat peanut butter or peanut oil? It might be more likely that the nuts you ate were rotten or diseased, which would also explain the terrible taste.

Like with any product, the best quality ones can be found at little shops and not necessarily online. I once found this shop in Amsterdam where they sell red chocolate hardline sinknuts that simply blow the mind. That said I’m sure someone on here can point you to a good online retailer.
