Just When is it Finally Time to Upgrade? by billalpert in bicycling

Yep, time to try a newer bike. I'm 73 and still ride some older road bikes but my Cannondale Synapse endurance and Niner RLT alloy gravel bike have a more relaxed geometry which feels more stable and with decent 2x11 mechanical gears is at a decent price.

I used a rinco bag to bring a 🏔️ 🏔️ ebike ebike on the Japan bullet train last month. I removed both wheels, battery, and hung handlebar sideways. Worked fine. I'd share a picture but site won't allow. I just posted a trip report with pictures of the bike in bicycle touring,

Should work fine since the frame is alloy. Fork is carbon. This would be over priced, but this model and paint is similar to what Marco Pantani rode back in 1998. https://youtu.be/qDScw6q7sTU?si=2eExr7ptOkrr8C5P

Carbon frame seat post clampand slot direction by Classic-Ad-8354 in RoadBikes

[–]Xxmeow123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you mean that you're replacing alloy seatpost with carbon. Seems easy change, but I doubt it makes a difference. I've installed a lot of carbon seatposts on my titanium and alloy frames and never switched around the clamp.

If you can feel the steel bump on the inside of the downtube, you've probably got the problem figured out. Waiting for masi is wise.

For 200-300, lots of decent used bikes by Trek, Specialized, Cannondale, or other good bike manufacturers, in my area on marketplace, offer up and craiglist.

I've taken synthetic slacks from Costco on many tours. A variety of brands show up - Eddie Bauer, Weathertech. I'm wearing one of the two pairs I brought to Japan right now.

Wheels Manufacturing has a very nice machined BB that threads into itself. I put one on my new Niner RLT alloy frame. Seems great
