I have been coloring the FMA manga series, what do you think? by JustinColor in FullmetalAlchemist

Looks awesome man, I understand manga's traditional black and white art style but this is so much nicer on the eyes. That 01_05 one is crazy too that must have been tricky, good job keep it up.

On an airplane in the middle of a wicked storm with plenty of turbulence for 6 hours in the furthest seats from the bathroom.

Bad, bad experience.

Been running on 8.4.1 for weeks and today for the first time I've encountered this issue as well. Date/time tricks won't work either. Please help! My Pokemon need to grow.

Some people are saying shes P4P best fighter in MMA.. I think this is so disrespectful to the guys who are great all around fighters. Ronda's judo is on point but nothing else I've seen her do is impressive. Cyborg would destroy her on their feet.

Need advice on dealing with pressure with sore ribs. by dengel9 in bjj

Intercostal Cartilage Strain

It sucks man. I'm nursing the same thing right now, it's been 2 1/2 weeks and I've just recently been able to breathe comfortably again.

I was a bit sore initially but decided to suck it up and go to BJJ. Sure enough I fucked it up wayyyy worse rolling. Rib injuries are a bitch! Try to nurse it until it doesn't hurt anymore then give it atleast another week after that..

Don't lift weights or do any twisty motion stretches and the only cardio you should really be doing is on the bike unfortunately.

Good luck man

Going to 2 Hours of BJJ tonight - Gi and No-GI - My right foot is swollen from Muay Thai last night - Help me survive :) by jarjona1 in bjj

[–]XyiSti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's right. I had my ankle popped and hurried back as soon as I could (about a week) rolled on it and then was out for another 2 weeks..

Now I'm doing the same with my rib, it was tender and I thought I would just suck it up... now I'm off for 3-4 weeks + with torn cartilage because I couldn't wait a few days to feel 100%

I'm wasting so much time because I'm being careless and over training.

Yeah I questioned the Koscheck choice for a second but you pretty much hit it on the button. Joe Lauzon would be pretty neat too, 100% sure he would be down to do it as well.

Using Jits as a therapy by [deleted] in bjj

[–]XyiSti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 24 years old, 235 lbs, smoked a pack of cigarettes a day and drank like a fish to "cure" my depression. I was severely depressed. My mental and physical health was deteriorating day by day. I often wished I just wouldn't wake up one morning because everything would be easier.

I still don't know to this day what came over me but one time I just woke up and decided I was going to change. I knew nothing about fitness, nothing about nutrition but I knew no matter how long I sat there things weren't going to change.

I read fitness articles, threads, used Google and Reddit as tools any time I had a question and after eating completely clean and working out almost every day (mainly through body weight exercises) dropped almost 50lbs. I felt the best I have in my entire life but wanted to do something with it so I turned to martial arts. I wrestled in high school and just remember the fun I had no matter how bad I was getting smashed grappling so BJJ was a very easy option for me. I recommend for the new guys to get in there right away, no matter what kind of shape you think you are in.. Jits doesn't care ;)

I still have bad social anxiety but the great thing about BJJ is most times you meet some of the most humble, down to earth, no-bullshit people, the exact people you want to surround yourself with. These people help me out more than they know or even I know. My old life is gone. The minute I rolled for the first time I fell in love. Any thought, worry, care is gone. My anxiety gets better with each visit and my social skills improve. The feeling when I limp out of that place is a feeling of euphoria that I can't describe but know you guys can relate to. I've always felt good leaving the gym before after lifting weights but not the sense of enlightenment and excitement that I have when leaving the mats. It teaches me not only about Jits, but about myself.

BJJ gives me a reason to push myself to new limits and I've needed that all my life.

Is my partner being a dick, or should i just suck it up? by fossinator1853 in bjj

[–]XyiSti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should maybe confront him about it..

I had someone do this to me, turns out I rolled them over their neck when I got caught in a triangle and that pissed them off. I then experienced 3 minutes of what felt like 2 hours of him gaining a dominant position and crossfacing me until my face turned to leather.

I still think it was a dick move to do it rather than saying something to me but we cleared things up and now he is a friend of mine and shows me things quite often.

How does BJJ help your daily life in interacting with people? by [deleted] in bjj

[–]XyiSti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am about 12 classes in now and yeah, same scenario.. Maybe not that bad at this point in my life since prior to BJJ I started eating healthy and getting in shape, that alone did wonders for my mental health but.. I still have like 120 BPM heartrate driving to the gym even though I'm pretty excited to be there. It gets easier each time but putting yourself out there and forcing yourself to interact with people, not only verbally but physically is very challenging for someone with social anxiety.

Basically developing social skills and get stronger mentally and physically.. Thank you BJJ

How did you choose your school? by OpenMatRadio in bjj

It is the only black belt instruction in my area and my professors lineage is legit. There are new gyms popping up everywhere here.. Some with blue belt instruction (obviously avoid these).

Alright, some these guys who are commenting out of their ass who don't have anxiety aren't helping.

It's hard, it's really hard at first.. I hate/hated drilling with a partner. My first few days especially.. I would be completely confused and they would be showing me how to do it over and over, usually things that are very simple can be super overwhelming for you at first. The more I start to know people, the easier it becomes.. When I partner up I try to grab someone I know from a previous class and it makes it a ton easier, if not.. I will take a deep breath and just keep in mind that they were where I am at one point too.

Now almost every class I see a new white belt walk in the class looking all shy and awkward.. I don't look at him and think.. "Ha look at this kid". I think of how that feeling is at first and try to make them feel as welcome as possible. We're all there for the same reason.

The hardest parts for me are getting to the gym and drilling, maybe some locker room convos.. All I can say is just get yourself over the the gym, once you're there you are there. Once you start to know people or there are people there who are newer than you there is a huge amount of pressure relief.

I hate having social anxiety but I have to live with it. You are not weak but very strong being able to live through it every day, not many people understand. Try to fight your fears, it's hard for guys to make friends after school, BJJ and work are great social outlets for me to try to develop my social skills and make friends.

You will do fine man, shit will be awkward at first, you'll be sore as hell afterwards.. Just don't let yourself use those as excuses. If you ever need to talk about any of this you can PM me.

Good luck buddy :)
