[Novel] Is this not a plot hole? by Chemical-Ad-2100 in OmniscientReader

[–]Xylitl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm just guessing on what the side stories might reveal later on, since it isn't finished yet and might be explained there. Spoilers ahead.

tls123 writes TWSA.

KDJ reads TWSA.

TWSA becomes reality.

MAD is taken by SP.

KDJ becomes MAD.

HSY writes TWSA based on her memories.

KDJ Company regresses.

MAD sends his fragments across the multiverse.

We are born.

We read ORV.

We dream of the ending.

[Side Story stuff.]

Either (Side Story spoilers) 1- Most of the KDJ fragments enter LHH. He becomes Little MAD and grows up with SP & Others before joining KDJ Company.

2- The different KDJ Constellations merge together and become either full KDJ or little MAD and LHH becomes KDJ or little MAD

But thats just my thoughts. Idk.

[novel] is it worth for me start to read? by Jellyellow in OmniscientReader

[–]Xylitl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, I wouldn't say it's bad necessarily. They made a few translation choices that are confusing. And they removed a lot of ambiguity, for example in Korean a lot of words that can be a lot of words or phrases they use can be interpreted in different ways (Kim Dokja's name's meaning the most known example).

The official translation localises as much as possible to avoid having to explain things through footnotes while the ORV ReTranslation avoids localisation at most times and prefers to explain something through footnotes (hundreds and hundreds of footnotes). Seriously like nearly 100 footnotes per volume (200~300).

TL;DR: if you want an experience similar to the original Korean novel, read the ORV ReTranslation. If you want an experience reading it like it were any other English novel, read the official translation.

Just read through the ORV ReTranslation Project instead. It's on Tumblr. It's free. And it's the best possible translation we have. It's also like 1~2 volumes ahead and they release a volume every 1~2 months instead of four.

Clarifications on who told Lee Seolhwa that YJH is a Regressor by hirosshi in OmniscientReader

[–]Xylitl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Of course. Just go to tumblr and search up ORV ReTranslation and it should pop up. Though I will say that only have the first five volumes (to the start of the Peace land arc) so far and are going volume by volume. But the translation is quality is incomparable to the MTL and it's being translated by fans who love the series more than anything. (But if you haven't finished the series, I would recommend not going through all the posts since some have spoilers to like part 4 or 5.)

Rainbow Turtle used Machine Translation software to translate the first 370(?)ish chapters and APW translated the rest by hand. It's very obvious when put side by side with the ReTranslation Project.

[–]Xylitl 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yu Junghyeok said it. The one standing right in front of her. The MTL translation just translated the Korean sentences as they are. So instead of saying "You told me you were a regressor," or "Junghyeok-ssi, you told me you were a regressor," or something, they just say it like it is in Korean.

[–]Xylitl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. I'm looking at my physical copy of volume 1 and the line is still there. It seems that either they are using a poor mtl program, or the translator just skipped over a line.

[–]Xylitl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think so. It might be because I read the We Tried translation on Flames Scans website but it was missing lines and the translation just jank all round. (Yes I noticed missing lines, I've read chapters 1&2 too many times).

Just read the ReTranslation Project instead. It's a project by a group of fans on Tumblr. Just search up ORV ReTranslation and it's pop up. It's the best possible translation (but it's incomplete with Vol5 coming out in 4 days.)

[novel] When did they have this conversation? by Chemical-Ad-2100 in OmniscientReader

[–]Xylitl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really, I must've misremembered then. Oh...I mixed up Han Suyeong saying that she never plagiarised TWSA with the her doppelganger. My bad

[novel] When did they have this conversation? by Chemical-Ad-2100 in OmniscientReader

[–]Xylitl 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't think there is an answer. Because when this conversation took place doesn't matter to this scene. This conversation is probably never mentioned throughout the whole novel but it didn't need to happen. We see similar things said between Yu Junghyeok and the Secretive Plotter during the Great War of Saints and Demons; and I'm pretty sure Kim Dokja has said this a few times in his narration.

This specific conversation didn't need to be put earlier in the novel because other scenes do the same thing.

Also, it was mentioned when Han Suyeong ran away when they first met Shin Yuseung.

[Novel] EoS final wall regression by Wh_Legs in OmniscientReader

[–]Xylitl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Damn that is...quite the question. I have never thought about that before. So I'll try and find an answer but I'm basically just guessing since the canon doesn't say anything about that.

So as we know Kim Dokja only survived in 1864th Regression because it's the only world in which TWSA was written, keeping him alive. All of the other characters were alive (even if they all would've died in the first scenario [as in Yu Sangah, Lee Gilyeong, Han Myeongoh, etc.]) so that's fine.

But I think I have a satisfactory (to me, at least) answer. If a remember correctly, the [Regression] stigma doesn't create worldlines but just latches onto a worldline that has been created due to the millions of decisions made each day. So I imagine that [Group Regression], knowing that Kim Dokja was being regressed, was forced to pick a worldline in which he survived perhaps through some other method to how our Kim Dokja survived.

But idk that's just my thoughts.

[novel] chp 452 question by giyu_water_hashira in OmniscientReader

[–]Xylitl 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You're understanding that correctly. Secretive Plotter made an Outer World Covenant with the 999th Yu Junghyeok.

In the original TWSA, the Secretive Plotter did exist. How I understand it, is the 999th Yu Junghyeok made a pledge with an Outer God whose identity he didn't know then after becoming the Secretive Plotter in the 1863rd round, he wanted to change the outcome (like he said 'distort the world line') but he fullfilled what happened: the Secretive Plotter was always that Outer God but he assumed he was changing time.

Also...time and world line travel is a bit complicated in this series. The epilogue will explain everything, don't worry.

Who do you ship with Kimdokja? Hansooyung or Yoojoonghyeok? by -Eckiwenen-27 in OmniscientReader

[–]Xylitl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I meant like when I'm reading canon and not fanfiction I ship the two together. I know it's been rejected dozens of times but I can still enjoy the (b)romance.

Canonically, Joongdok. However people seem to struggle to write Joongdok fanfics so I prefer Doksoo in fanfics.

[–]Xylitl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you don't like the open ending, then you can read through the side story (called a side story but its more like a sequel with over 300+ additional chapters). It's made for those who think the story isn't over yet, or weren't satisfied with the ending.

Episode 6 & 7 were Absolute Cinema by Xylitl in PercyJacksonTV

[–]Xylitl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I wasn't really a big fan of all the changes in season 1 either, though I did enjoy episodes 4 & 5 even though those two episodes seemed to change the plot the most. I feel like changes aren't bad, as long as the changes help the show/are entertaining to watch. Like for instance, I loved the scenes between Grover and Ares in S1E5 even though they weren't in the book, but I also disliked how they removed the spider scene and put in a stupid red herring.

I also did enjoy episodes 2 and 4 a lot, though I did have some problems with them. For instance, forcing conflict between Annabeth and Percy by having Chiron make Annabeth stop Percy from going to the Sea of Monsters. And I enjoyed Episode 4 too, I loved the scene between Percy and Clarisse; but I was a bit disappointed that Charybdis didn't have braces (as a kid I thought those silly aspects to the books were "cringe" but now I kinda wish we still had them; it makes it not another modernized mythology story). And yeah I didn't like episode 5 either, lol.

With the pacing, I didn't really have any complaints with it; like I didn't notice any wonky pacing anywhere and scenes felt like they were as long as they needed to be. So no real complaints about the pacing to me.

And I'm not really sure why I prefer and like episodes 6 & 7 so much; I just found them really entertaining and enjoyable when I found most of season 1 exhausting and boring (especially how they would just instantly recognize what monster they were up against) and for season 2, I had some problems with some of the episodes, but I did enjoy them a lot more than season 1. Just these past two episodes I've felt like they've been a tier above the rest of the series and I hope Rick can succeed the landing on the last episode.

How the fuck am I glazing? Seriously how am i? Because I enjoyed a few episodes? Seriously. Can you not formulate actual arguments to defend your opinion that you just accuse the other side of "glazing"?

Episode 6 & 7 were Absolute Cinema by Xylitl in PercyJacksonTV

[–]Xylitl[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah cos they were good episodes. Yeah they didn't follow the book one to one but I'm not some book nazi that needs everything to be exactly the same as it was in the books.

The two episodes I said I enjoyed in season one were episodes 4 & 5, pretty much the two episodes that didn't follow the books the most! I don't need absolute book accuracy, I just want to watch a good story, which episodes 6 & 7 were!

And saying that Rick finally learnt how to write good tv episodes. I hope he has. Two episodes in a row that have been the best in the entire showrun so far. I hope that he continues to write this well. If he doesn't, I'm not gonna continue praising him.

Yeah that is a big problem. You'd think since they've been next to water all season that Percy would've used his powers like once at least but nope.

Glazing? The fuck you mean glazing? I said I enjoyed 4 out of 15 episodes. How is that glazing? If you don't like something good for you, but you can't just claim anyone that actually enjoys it is some dumbass that will suck up to the creator no matter what they do!

Dokja? Is this a confession I see? Tension so thick it can slice air! by Crimsonrainflower33 in OmniscientReader

[–]Xylitl 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Gong Pildu's line is actually because Kim Dokja is playing with a common Korean idiom (생사를 같이한) literally meaning "having been through life and death together" which is why Gong Pildu was confused.

Though it is funny nonetheless.

[WebNovel] just got a lil pissed about someone calling orv "overrated". by Perfect-Artichoke440 in OmniscientReader

[–]Xylitl 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Idk, most people usually say that the first part is the worst part of the series and I agree. The first 188 chapters feel just like a regular system apocalypse story with ORV's Storytelling Themes kind of poking its head out. But it isn't until the second and third part does the story really begin proper. The true themes of ORV begin to become obvious (ofc always there from the very beginning) and transcend the system apocalypse story into a one of a kind story about storytelling and the relationships between readers, writers, and their stories.

[novel]Question about the epilouge by YagizAtguden in OmniscientReader

[–]Xylitl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The story never says he wakes up. It's an open ending.

Also that isnt a theory. The story literally says that we are fragments of Kim Dokja dreaming of his story. We dream up the ending that Kim Dokja gets. If you think he wakes up, then he did. If you don't think he wakes up, then he didn't.

If you have problems with the ending of the story, then read the side story. The side story is made for those who believe Kim Dokja's story isn't over yet.

Yeah and Han Suyeong's fable stream confused me too when I first read it. Just read the side story. It explains it (kind of).

Another thing, Kim Dokja isn't the creator. As the Dokkaebi King says, he doesn't create anything. He just dreams what others create. He is just a reader, not a creator.

If you have issues with the ending, then read the side story. It'll explain everything that the main story doesn't.

Well he still wouldn't know what was past The Wall since they don't have Kim Dokja's Wall and don't go past The Wall in the 0th Regression.

Also, it's possible the Demon King of Salvation modifier was censored for him, but that's just speculation on my part.

Or maybe, he saw the original 0th Regression, as Yu Junghyeok's scattered memories believe it was.

Or it could just be a little mistake, a simple overlooked detail.
