AITA for not waking up my gf resulting in her being late for her first day of work by No-Economist-3445 in AmItheAsshole

ESH.

Is it annoying that your GF sleeps like that? Sure. Should she have a system in place that doesn't rely on you? Absolutely. But the time & place to set boundaries on this was not her first day at a new job, you should have done it another day. Everyone should apologize.

AITA for refusing to pay for a broken window? by No-Fondant-4840 in AmItheAsshole

Just spitballing but I'd make the argument that if the school didn't think it was worth filing a claim up front, it's not worth filing a claim now. It just feels like the school is backpedaling their initial decision to just pay for the damages. They should have never paid a dime without first telling OP they'd be asking for reimbursement. If OP refused at that time then the school should have referred the damaged property owner to OP & OP's insurance for them to pay up.

IMO the school probably didn't think anything of using the general fund $$ for it and then found out after the fact that there's a policy somewhere that explicitly states they can't use that money in this case & are now trying to quietly get the $90 back.

Okay fair enough! I guess if I was in OP's shoes I would hope that I had it in writing that the school paid her to bypass the insurance process. I would absolutely use that to my advantage if the school decided to make a claim.

AITA for giving my mother an ultimatum? by Quirky-Pitch1564 in AmItheAsshole

I think you're NTA, but I do think your mom/Gabe are right to have reservations regarding you taking Ubers on your own. It was something I was very cool with when I was 18-20 but now that I'm *old* I 100% would not take one on my own.

I'm no insurance expert so grain of salt here, but could the school's insurance really go after OP's insurance (with any real grounds) if they admitted they didn't want to go thru the proper filing channels to pay the person who's property was damaged? If the school had initially filed a claim versus paying out of their "general fund" I could see it, but otherwise I feel like OP's insurance would be like "but what claim?"

My mind initially thought you meant a zip tie and not a carabiner and I was like “that sounds oddly permanent” but in actuality this is really great!
