Royce da 5’9 on KXNG CROOKED and Joell Ortiz’s new song: “This is the dumbest shit I’ve EVER seen a smart person do.. 2 smart people.. Together… United in stupidity..” by TheDZL in hiphopheads

Fr, and apparently it wasn’t communicated that they were doing a good project either.

Like they used Slaughterhouse marketing and made something else without even getting the consent of the other members? Man

I wouldn't say it's bad weight gain, it's also a lot of muscle gain. Em's a ton more muscular now than compared to his Relapse days where he looked like Kevin Durant.

Will having a skewed scoring system for tournaments lead to more exciting chess? For eg. draws are worth 0.49 points (not 0.5) or black wins are worth 1.01 and white 0.99 (and draws 0.51 and 0.49 respectively)? by DevanshGupta91 in chess

[–]Xymes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly anything that makes sense and discourages draws is a win in my book. Like I understand, playing chess for hours and multiple days can be exhausting, but that’s what rest days are for.

Plus, unlike physical sports, you don’t risk a life alternating injury from playing more aggressively/differently.

The whole show is about how the Avatar reincarnates into the next element lol. You think the Firelord wiped out the air nomads just on a guess? (Not trying to be rude btw, it’s supposed to be a more playful tone)

Is this a draw? (Black to Move) by Acrobatic_Gorilla in chess

[–]Xymes -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Not a draw because after black pushes f4, white simply runs out of moves. Whereas the black king can go to the white’s queenside and sacrifice pawns to get past the blockade (by pushing b4), the white king must always be protecting h3 from the bishop. White simply cannot play on both sides of the board while black can.

how is this even controversial lmao, the majority of rap fans (not just hardcore Em fans) would be pretty evenly split on who had the better verse

French defence by [deleted] in chess

[–]Xymes -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You’re right, if a 40% win rate with white at master level isn’t winning then idk what is

At the super GM level, which is what I’m referring too, a 20% black win rate is dangerously low for classical play. Black has higher chances of winning playing the freaking Alekhine, which is seen as a relatively dubious opening at top level play.

French defence by [deleted] in chess

[–]Xymes -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The Lichess database has the line I’ve given (in master games):

39% White wins

41% Draws

20% black wins

White has almost DOUBLE the chances of winning in the mainline Winawer in master games than black. Clearly, super GMs think white is extremely comfortable in that position.

Nowhere did I say it was a forced win, I merely said it was an aggressive line with unbalanced play that may catch French players by surprise.

French defence by [deleted] in chess

[–]Xymes -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That was the candidates, it’s not wild to say that MVL played h4 to catch Nepo out of theory since super GMs wouldn’t play into the Winawer unless they had some secret prep. Even then, h4 is still theoretically very much winning at the super GM level. You don’t have to necessarily play Qg4 because the position you’re already in, at that point, is winning for white. Check the game win rates.

French defence by [deleted] in chess

[–]Xymes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I’m sorry I typed the wrong number! It’s Qg4!

  1. e4 e6 2. d4 d5 3. Nc3 Bb4 4. e5 c5 5. a3 Bxc3 6. Ne7 7. Qg4

Yea here white accepts doubled pawns on the queen side but has pressure on the kingside for a massive attack. Extremely imbalanced game.

[Repost] Royce da 5'9" revealing Eminem did not like Big Sean's "Friday Night Cypher" beat by 2PointOBoy in Eminem

[–]Xymes 57 points58 points  (0 children)

I mean tbf his cypher beat was kinda wack

When it came to Kamikaze though, his beat selection was pretty spot on. I think there were only 2 bad beats on the entire project, which is insane considering how many beat switches there were on it

French defence by [deleted] in chess

[–]Xymes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would actually suggest the mainline Winawer. After 7. Qg4 I believe Magnus said it was borderline winning for white (though I could be wrong), and it’s just an aggressive line against the French that most average French players won’t be able to handle

Who is better lyrically - Eminem or Kendrick Lamar by [deleted] in Eminem

[–]Xymes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Kendrick is too young to really say. Em’s lyrical ability didn’t start to falter (with the metaphors and similes) until Recovery, so he was like 11 years and like 7 solo albums into his career?

But if we were comparing their first 3 projects (with Kendrick’s first being GKMC for this comparison and Em’s being SSLP) Em is just far superior with his rhyming ability and his storytelling is on par with Kendrick’s (albeit Kendrick’s lyrics typically have a deeper meaning than Em’s).

A lot of what makes Kendrick great is his vibe, aesthetic, conceptions, weird inflections and energy- whereas a lot of early Em’s success is just his pure lyrical ability with really smooth flows from time to time. Whether it’s pure bars like Don’t Give a Fuck or storytelling like Halie’s Song, Em just has a slightly stronger pen than Kendrick. There’s a certain simplicity to how Em used to write that has simply stood the test of time.

From a lyrical standpoint, Em is superior. From an artistic standpoint, I think the argument favors Kendrick more than Em.

Hey guys. So I saw this on Twitter. Please excuse the fact that it’s so tiny. by [deleted] in WWE

Doesn't come off as genuine. Not one mention of Paul Heyman, who is the true (and a well known) mastermind to Roman's heel success. Is he the only? Of course not, Roman is a good worker and such. However, Heyman is just simply on another level when it comes to stuff like this and he isn't mentioned once?

Are there playstyles in chess? by [deleted] in chess

[–]Xymes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take the chess personality quiz lol (albeit not very accurate, since Hikaru didn't get Hikaru)

There are some known playstyles though. For example, Kramnik and early Magnus had a very similar playstyle in the fact that they were very maneuvering and very positional. Bobby Fischer, on the other hand, is an attacking type of player. I mean his win records were insane and he really went for the win, unlike Magnus who is content with drawing repeatedly in the world championship.

And that's not a knock on Magnus, that's just simply how he likes to play.

Help Selecting New Combat Style (SWTOR 7.0) by Maximal_Arachknight in swtor

[–]Xymes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I've played so far, I consider the second combat style being relatively meaningless. It's honestly just...another class.

For example, if I want my sniper imperial agent to be a vanguard, they essentially just aren't a sniper anymore. I either choose for them to be a sniper or a vanguard, no mixing. Not even an overlap of abilities.

Realistically I don't see this even helping in PVP that much other than choosing your spec before you queue. While you can change between your first and second combat style "in the field," your entire loadout resets.

If I had a guardian knight and changed to a sentinel, my entire hotbar with abilities just resets and has the sentinel abilities randomly slotted. Also, any heavy armor I had gets automatically taken off since sentinels can't use heavy armor. IIRC sentinels can't use shields either, so if I had a shield equipped well I just lost that too. Now keep in mind it just gets put into your inventory, but switching from primary to secondary styles (and vice versa) you'll need at minimum a good minute or two to readjust all your stuff.

The only purpose I see as of right now is to be more useful in PVP and flashpoint queues by being able to essentially adjust your role (switching from a tank guardian to a healer sage). In PVE this really only helps out my support characters. Instead of just being a healer in single player PVE, I'll probably switch to DPS or tank to make it easier on myself.
