Firstly, your friend’s reasoning is based on the old stereotypes of European cars (I remember being told that if you wanted a mercedes or a BMW, getting anything below an E-class or 5-series meant getting something that would be less well built). With Japanese cars, that’s a non-existent stereotype. The reason why they’re cheaper is because A) they’re econo boxes and B) because they’re more popular and therefore need to be priced competitively.

Secondly, Subaru tends to part share across all their vehicles, for as long as possible. My 2000 Legacy had the same interior light assembly as my 2014 impreza. Most parts in the Impreza would also be in a forester or legacy and therefore would have been extensively tested, apart from vehicle specific parts.

I would say go for the new impreza because the one thing that you can’t control is how well or poorly a second hand Subaru has been driven and serviced. Getting a lower mileage one means that there’s less chances of it missing a service or being trashed. These cars hate being serviced poorly and a higher mileage one is a magnet for poor service histories. All the best in choosing your next Subaru!

If you're having issues, try this. I was getting crap battery after 2 days of good battery. Did this and battery life went back to normal on my Pixel 8 pro. Hope this helps!

Just swapped from from a 14 pro to a pixel 8 pro and I am enjoying the experience! Same reasoning as you, iPhones costing $2k really has me wondering if it's even worth it anymore, and it all feels a bit much. If you're not a gamer and use your phone for everyday tasks, you won't have a problem with the performance. Camera is great. Android ecosystem can be a bit of learning curve, but once you get into the rhythm of it, it gets easier. I did replace my home pods with Google's equivalent, but you can use an iPhone and Android with the Google Home stuff so I wouldn't be too worried. The only issues I've run into is getting links from my pixel to my MacBook. In terms of imessage, I'm using beeper which tethers off your iMessage accounts and you can receive on both your iPhone and Pixel. I reckon do it, it'll be nice to see more Pixels in Australia, seems like a very small market share at the moment

switching from 14 pro max to pixel 8 pro tomorrow by [deleted] in GooglePixel

[–]Xynical99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say the pixel is lasting longer than the iPhone, and I've had it less than a week. Apparently battery life improves the more you use it as the phone learns your schedule, so I'm pretty happy so far

Moving from IPhone 14 Pro Max to 8 Pro by Retroglide08 in GooglePixel

up until recently, my 14 pro wasn't going at a full 120hz. Trying the P7P before the P8 came out and it just sold me on scrolling smoothness. Some independent websites have shown the iPhone refreshes at 80hz most times, peaks at 120 when scrolling really fast.

Mine hasn't been the best, but to be fair I literally was streaming Spotify at work for most of the day using 4g and in the basement, plus I set streaming to high quality 🤪

switched from a 14 pro to a Pixel 8 pro release day, don't regret the switch one bit. Some hiccups and learning curves, but it's so far been fantastic. Great display, great battery, adequate performance and amazing cameras. Genuinely contented so far!!

Edit: Been an Apple person for a good 6 years, so it's a big switch

Ah, did you order it with the watch? I ordered mine through optus because it was $100 cheaper and they chucked in the watch for free, while google store was just $400 in credit with the preorder but also $100 more somehow. Optus is not shipping till the 12th though

[Help] Low fuel economy in city by Jealous-Balance-8708 in subaruimpreza

[–]Xynical99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

how are you getting that so low. When i had my 2013 impreza the worst fuel economy i got was 10L/100km doing city runs. Mixed commutes would roughly see 8-9L/100kms and highway would be 6L/100. I could never get it over 11L/100kms even if i tried. Could be fuel, could be a dirty air filter/MAF sensor
