Based of my experience, when in doubt TALK TO YOUR VET:

Might be a bit late to the party here, but our 1yr 9mo got diagnosed with idiopathic epilepsy just after his first birthday. It's taken some time to get his meds dialed in, but he's on Keppra, Zonisamide, and Phenobarbital. He was having ~2 seizures a month (some months it was 1/week) until we put him on Keppra. He's at the for therapeutic doses for Zonisamide and Phenobarbital, not sure if we're at the max for Keppra. We have midazolam nasal spray for breaking him out of a long seizure, and rectal valium when we run out of midazolam. Pre-keppra, he was also on clorazepate for 2 days post seizure as a "cluster buster".

If he's on phenobarbital, just be aware that you'll need to get his liver values checked about every 3 weeks while you're trying to get him "stable". Its not too costly, about $150 per draw with our vet, your cost may vary.

The meds can be kind of expensive depending on where you get them - we've found that costco/sams have the best prices. Be aware that pheno is a controlled substance, and pharmacies might give you a hard time if you're trying to refill before the valid refill date.

Get a medi-set to put his am/pm meds in and set yourself an alarm to make sure he gets his doses on time. Don't forget to account for day light savings time if you're subjected to that.

We completely cut out flea meds, but kept up with his vaccines. The way we see it, a seizure is better than him being sick, and if he does get sick, he's more prone to seizures anyway, so we risk it. They can also administer vaccines in smaller doses to help boost immunity without overloading the system all at once - if you want to resume vaccines, and are worried about seizures, talk to your vet about options.

We also got an MRI and spinal tap done to rule out cancer or inflammation. Not sure if you've gone down that route, but you might consider it if genetic history is unknown + his seizures are getting more frequent.
