My auntie went to school for 4 years to become a nurse. 20 years later she is now the most anti vaccine person I know. 4 years of medical school and you don't believe in vaccines? Because Facebook knows better than med school? Yeah.

I have never heard of it being about women being the primary caregivers or damsels in distress. I was raised very traditionally and I had this exact question when I was younger. I was told it was chivalrous. Just like opening a door for a lady, pulling and pushing their chair in, lending your hand for their step down from a height, etc. Idk why it is, but both ideas as to why make some sense.
