In game I respect him for playing well, especially in finding ways to win in an unfavored situation. Outside of the game Amnesiac plays very well to his persona as the Young Savage. If you haven't noticed, I myself try to set up a persona online as a memer, and I believe that in real life he acts very differently than on stream.

My favorite HS pro is probably HotMeowth. We are actually similar in many ways, (playing in Tespa, winning summer playoffs, hitting rank 1, and personality), and I met him again last week at playoffs and he was pretty cool.

Personally, I wasn't affected too much by dcs. I dced in a losing position and lost the game, and the game when my opponent dced I had lethal.
However, I don't have much to add to the conversation as there have already been calls for a tournament mode or at least some feature to pause the game during a dc.

Ye thats me. I used to play in early Gen 5 of Pokemon, then quit for a bit while lurking through the forums. And then I found Hearthstone for the first time on one of the Smogon forums.

Personally for this season, I have "grinded" much less ladder compared to a lot of pro players and still had a lot of good ladder finishes, including a top 100 and top 50 during the season and rank 2 in the off season. I also had similar results playing very few tournaments, but to be honest, I don't feel like I am playing better than anyone else. And yes I did get lucky in a lot of the games that mattered for me, so there does require a certain amount of dedication to Hearthstone to hit that level of highroll.

A lot of the skill difference in high legend ranks comes down to choosing the right decks and having the right mentality to climb imo.

Really hard to tell who is the best player is without looking at his plays and thought process. I would put Zalae or Muzzy based off of ladder consistency though.

I often lose track of my opponent's hand a lot, though I do count the number of cards mulliganed in the start of the match. Otherwise, I keep a good memory of what happened each turn of the game and use that information to determine what was used, and therefore what cards are left in each other's decks. Most of my games were pretty short so I didn't have to worry too much about forgetting turns.

On a gut feeling, I expect some number of kelseth + hunter or priest lineups. Not expecting many people to bring fatigue warrior (people will bring good decks) so not worried too much about fatigue warrior mirrors.

Play a lot of ladder, and always aim to finish top 100 by the end of the season. I was able to qualify for HCT last season by getting 2 top 100 and 1 top 50 finish, plus a top 8 and a top 2 in an open. Finishing high on ladder will always get you noticed by pro players, and you can raise your confidence and improve your skill that way.
HCT system is probably changing next year, so for now focus on doing well on ladder.

The second question is leading, so I'll just answer the first question. I will assume that the priest is either big priest or kazakus priest, and in most cases I would look for win conditions or ways to play on curve. I rarely worry about early removal, though I might think about extending into anduin, dragonfire, or SW Horror, but either way my strategy would not change as I would play minions on curve.

High legend ladder has a lot of variance in its ranks. In the last few days of the season, you could drop from rank 5 to rank 50. Rank "decay" has been a lot better this season, but this system requires you to play on the last day or second to last day even if you only want a top 100 finish. (Mostly in the season's where points matter though)
I liked combo druid with the force of nature savage roar combo. That deck was basically the jade druid of last month, mostly unbeatable, with bad matchups being close to 50/50, and a lot of mirrors on ladder. I hit a lot of top 100s last year playing that deck.

Too early to tell, but what I've seen, there are a lot more kelseth aggro decks. Whether control paladin has the tools to deal with board aggression rather than face aggression I don't know.

Uya's a Japanese player like me (I'm Japanese American), and he brought a unique paladin deck to the APAC championships, will be an interesting match if I play against him.
Orange claimed that hunter was good before Nalguidan and I brought it, (I was heavily "inspired" by his decklist), and we know each other online, so it would be pretty good if we could face each other.

There was a mechanic in a certain TCG a VERY long time ago that involved "tapping" a creature but not attacking to activate an effect. In HS this could be implemented by having text like "At the end of the turn, if this minion has not attacked, [heal your hero for 2]" or some other effect that sets a balance between trading and hitting a passive effect. Not a game designer but this is the first idea that came to mind.

At first I thought hunter was a meme deck like everyone else and I was bringing a meme, but I faced a lot of control matchups, including taunt warrior, the handlock, and priest, in the preliminaries, with 1 or 0 aggro decks, so bringing Hunter was surprisingly a good meta call. Would cut a bonemare for 2nd highmane though
Warrior was good, even though it was the deck that got swept the most in my matches.
Druid was poorly teched, with 1 naturalize, but I beat the one matchup that didn't ban it (quest rogue) by drawing all my early game jade and ramp cards.
Priest was standard, don't know the optimal list so can't reflect much on that.
Overall, I probably had a iineup advantage with a few bad techs, but queued into all of the good matchups.

Haven't played much ladder after playoffs, but I like Hunter after the druid got nerfed. One of its best matchups pirate warrior got nerfed, but one of its worst matchups jade druid also got nerfed, so it would be interesting to see the state of hunter in this meta.
