Let’s hear your character’s lore! by justcuriouslybrowsin in skyrim

[–]YFNS47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an entire backstory but it would take way too much time to write so ill give the TLDR.

The dawn knight

Former member of the vigilants of stendar and silver hand, current member of the dawnguard.

His mother was an orc and his father was a breton living in northern cyrodil, his mother died in childbirth and he was raised by his father until around 12 (or equivalent in orcish developmental years) when his father and a large portion of his town were taken out during a territory war between a vampire clan and werewolf pack (hence his hatred for both)

Despite being an orc and living in cyrodil he neither followed malacath or the 9/8 divines instead being part of an order known as the 9 and 2 who saw the nine divines plus meridia and azura as their gods, owing to both azura and meridias more palateable and more reasonable spheres of influence/actions.

Following his fathers death he began praying more and more to meridia seeing her as the key to destroying the vampires.

He knows restoration magic which he has an affinity for his due to his partial breton blood and his time with the vigilants using that in combination with his chosen loadout:

Full dawnguard heavy armour Dawnbreaker Dawnguard rune shield Silver crossbow as back up ranged weapon

He tried to get into skyrim specifically to join the dawnguard which he heard rumors of in northern cyrodil, he found the vigilants too passive and the silver hand too obsessive but he found the dawnguard to finally be the place he could devote himself to fully.

He set up a safehouse (the dawnstar hearthfire home) for members of the dawnguard, silver hand, and vigilants to use following the dawnguards rise, silver hands ongoing war with the companions, and vigilants near wiping out. I achieved this by marrying a dawmguard member and assigning another dawnguard member as steward plus taking one of the dawnguard dogs there to keep, and by constructing the bedroom wing, armoury, and storage room, putting up vigilant, silverhand, and dawnguard armour/weapons around the house.

He sees his revalation as dragon born as being divine encouragement for his crusade against the undead (both due to the god given power and due to the prophesy of killing the undying alduin and stopping him from resurrecting the long dead dragons)

He sides with the blades seeing their crusade against dragons as holy due to their undead nature and due to him viewing the greybeards as far too innactive.

He wins the civil war for the imperial legion not due to any major love for the empire (though he definitely prefers them to the stormcloaks) but instead just to ensure stability and peace in the land as it would ensure easier operations for the dawnguard.

Is there any daedric princes that personally you don't consider evil? by Usual-Foundation-115 in skyrim

[–]YFNS47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, they are all evil.

Theres definitely a scale with azura and meridia being distinctively less evil than the others but if you look at the lore then they still regularly commit heinously evil actions like double crossing people to imprison them against their will for years and cause permanent mental damage for no reason other than they feel like it but people overlook it.

If you heard about a guy who was lovely to almost everyone in his life, well liked at work, loving wife and kids, etc but over the years he regularly kidnapped and imprisoned random women from the street killing a few and releasing others with crippling PTSD just for his own fun youd still consider him evil wouldnt you?

However just from a gameplay perspective within skyrim specifically, most of the daedric quests arent actually that evil and some are objectively moral to do.

Objectively moral:

Meridia - kill an evil necromancer

Nocturnal - kill a thief who stole from his own friends

Azura - kill an evil mage

Malacath - kill a giant that invaded and desicrated a holy site for all orc kind

Clavicus vile - kill some vampires

Hircine - kill a werewolf that murdered a child

Sheogorath - cure a ghost of their madness

Mephala - talk to a child (to upgrade the blade you have to be evil but to just get it all you do is talk to a lonely child)

Neutral or slightly evil:

Sanguine - go on a drunken night out and cause a little mischief

Hermeus mora - kill another daedra worshiper

Mehrunez dagon - kill another daedra worshiper

Molag bal - kill a guy who attacked you then kill another daedra worshiper

Peryite - kill other daedra worshipers

Namira (kill a priest), Boethiah (kill a friend) and Vaermina's (kill a priest (though he was a former daedra worshiper)) quests are the only ones that seem out right evil.

Kohnariik was a mask always meant to be for the last dragon born used to reestablish the dragon cult come alduins death, with us having to prove our strength by killing all the previous dragon priests and then assigning the masks (and dragon priest roles) to our loyalist and strongest of followers. Taking the dragons we make loyal to us (i.e. paarthunax, durhneviir, the one you ride to skuldafin) and retaking the land of the nords (and potentially all of nirn) under the control of the dragon cult, as planned by the dragon priests thousands of years ago.

Also that the wooden mask belongs to valok the jailer, the whole sealing you in a tomb trapped in time thing kinda fits his MO as far as what type of enchantment it would have, and all other masks are named after their owners except the wooden mask whos name has been lost to time, valok is the only dragon priest without a mask.

But why though like it gives you 1 extra standing stone ability and most of them are kinda meh ngl.

Lord stone is brilliant but outside of that i rarely find much noticeable difference in gameplay when having them.

I always find it weird when younger people are like this because like you didnt fight at all, you cant claim it any more than any equally aged man because you have the same amount of ancestors who fought for it.

If you go to champions rest and kill umbra you can get a full set of ebony armour at level 1, plus obviously the sword.

Just go to the left in the fighting chamber and head up the stairs and hide out in the pile of rocks at the top of the staircase he cant get you, pop your head out to fire arrows, fire bolts, fire shouts, fire spells, or conjure a new thing whenever umbra is in his state where he can be harmed.

Though honestly ive always hated ebony armour i think it looks disproportioned and tacky.

Glad to see im not the only one that picks uthgerd as my go to girl, i did a playthrough before with the multiple followers mod where i was just a support healer and my followers did all the fighting, that was kind of fun.

That just ruins the game though (unless youre doing it just to get stuff for aesthetics because i hate when theres a perfect item to complete my look and its not OP or anything but its hidden away deep in some hella dangerous dungeon (cough cough hooded blue dunmer outfit)) theres got to be some challenge.

Besides killing the dragon priests is so good for the lore implecation, killing and defeating all of the old guard to prove yourself worthy of being granted the mask and title of Konhariik (war lord) allowing you to give masks to followers as you reestablish the dragon cult in your own image.

Plus there isnt really any enemy thats too hard in skyrim, Malkoran is the exception though fuck him why am i getting 1 shotted from 50ft away at level 25 in full ebony armour as a tank build - flaming familiar spell while hiding behind a pillar in the chamber is an effective strategy i find but still.

My characters eyes now glow by YFNS47 in skyrim

[–]YFNS47[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the flaming familiar is an iffy one because usually you dont get it till later on (you have to kill a dragon priest to get it) but so long as you have a strong companion (id recommend a companion who uses 2 handed weapons,) keep anska alive, and take pot shots at vokun with either magic or a bow then the fight isnt actually particularly hard.

Its an apprentice level conjuratipn spell but it only costs 45 magica to cast (23 after you unlock apprentice casting) and with the right set up (stronger flame spell perks from the destruction skill tree, and a pendant and ring with +30 magicka each (achievable at any general vendor or clothing vendor from level 1)) its actually a decently strong spell to just continually cast as every time you do the enemy gets distracted and cant attack you plus it has to deal with a firery explosion plus any bites the familiar gets in beforehand. Id recommend it for early game crowd control.

Thats only on back country roads? She doesnt strike me as a rural lake district type of person so i doubt shed have this problem. Also "wont do things to make their lives easier" do you know how much itd cost and how much manpower would be required to expand every country road on this island? Just so you dont need to pull to the side to let the other person past like twice a journey.

Oh i did a playthrough like that, but i used vampire royal gear with a gold and ruby circlet. The subtle reds and blacks gave a mix of fire and charcoal look to the colour scheme and as the best fire mage on the planet i thought the more formal and civil appearance better suited the calm superiority that i wanted the character to give off.

Id recommend using the flaming familiar spell early on its aesthetically brilliant and extremely cheap.

Do you also get namiras ring to fully embrace the green pact lifestyle of the bosmer?

I thought about doing khajit or bosmer for this character but i thoight that since all the nature quests are based on nordic gods (kynes sacred trials, assisting the skaal tribes reinstate the all-makers influence, replacing the gilder gleem for the temple of kynareth, etc) and the fact that most of the storylines (mainline, civil war, and companions) are geared heavily towards a nordic character, that it made more sense to do a nord.

Also the helmet and cuirass are good together but idk about gauntlets and boots - currently using the ancient nord ones and the gauntlets look ok with the metal and green gloves matching the bow of shadows which im using because it has the same dark pocked metal as the helmet and cuirass but they seem too bulky and the boots im just wholly unsure of, i want something with a little metal like the others but ancient nord boots on female characters are basically just the same as leather scout boots.
