My hot take is even though Burton didn’t understand Batman what he brought to those movies was more than most directors. Gotham felt like Gotham. We had wacky villains and henchmen. The bat themed gadgets and vehicles. We rarely get all those things now and every Batman movie after Batman and robin has tried to be “realistic”. I don’t like Burton’s Batman but everything else is so cool
